Osmond performance today make me believe she really transform to black swan, the second half is truly impressive in term of performance.
And most of them haters.
Canadians, deal with it - the biggest gold of these "Games" goes to Russia.
Yeah, too bad more people were annoyed by the miming. Shocking. It's almost like they don't agree with you.
Well Medvedeva has tone down the miming if you'd care to notice. Truth be told its not a negative. Its more her style. But of course being a popular criticism I suppose she has to lessen it a bit. Even without that she can still fill her program competently. Her programs have always been one giant step sequence interperse with jumps. It just does not feel like she is just trying to look pretty and elegant and speed skating from one jump to another. That's what amazes me about her.
Why is the ladies the biggest gold? And look at the overall medal count. Canada: 4 (team, dance, ladies, pairs; two golds, two bronze). Russia: 2 (team, ladies; one gold, one silver). Canada wins.

Sigh.
Yet another crime against figure skating, called Alina Zagitova's PCS. Crime.
What a nonsense of a competition. It was preordained she had to win, win she did. That PCS .... way to completely, completely destroy the meaning of one mark. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they make her the scapegoat now for a lot of the incoming changes. Not that that'll change a thing, in some ways, they have the potential to just make it all worse. But she has her OGM so she better rake it now if she has any brains.
I also laugh at all of those who think Alina is somehow ill-done by Eteri. She made her into an OGM, such as she is. If anyone should leave, it is Medvedeva, not that she will. But since she's staying in skating, at least she'd get better programs and someone could work with her to improve the jumps a bit.
Oh well. Don't think I'll watch ladies any time soon, this skipping was justified and probably saved me a lot of nerves. Individual videos in this day and age are a blessing.
Mao Asada isn't an OGM but Alina Zagitova is. I still cannot. Cannot. No.
Joke's on you - there was no "Russia" in these games, remember? Only Olympic Athletes from Russia. "Russia" didn't get a single medal.
Don’t be silly, Russia has NO medals, just some athletes from their country.
OK. That’s nice. Debatable to many as to if it is the largest gold of the games are not
Well, it's better than Med being an OGM and never having landed a clean lutz in her life. (+at least one UR and super awk choreography). That would've been even worse.

I don't count medals. It's about prestige. Men closer and have same hype
Results if judging were accurate
1. Evgenia
2. Kaetlyn
3. Satoko
4. Alina
5. Kostner or Kaori with the former having the edge on PCS and the latter TES.
I'm sorry, but I think the wrong person won. Zagitova has beautiful jumps and spins. Sometimes she even times the jumps to the beat of the music. But I find her skating pretty boring and sloppy in the first half of that program- pageant poses, unfinished arms and positions, little relation to or engagement with the music. And the second half is a jump drill. If you turned the music off for that program, my impression of Zagitova's program would be much different. Zagitova skated well tonight. She worked the system. But giving her 9.29 for composition; 9.46 for interpretation; and 9.61 for performance execution seems criminal.
Medvedeva is musical and much more interesting. She has a sense of what's playing and what she's trying to convey to the audience. The choreography is trying to communicate things about the story- it's not just there to waste time until the jump drill comes/ fill the space so that she can backload. Evgenia's jumps are not as good as Zagitova's. But her spins are, IMO, about equal to Zagitova's, and her jumps were clean tonight (minus the 3Z "should have been e") tonight. I think Medvedeva deserved gold.
Osmond was also wonderful. She really pulled it out when it counted. The best free skate of her life couldn't have come at a better time. This was a real performance. It was uncluttered and lyrical and interesting. She had all the technical goods (although she doesn't backload and she doesn't get Medvedeva-level GOEs). Deserving bronze medalist. It's a shame that things are going in the direction they're going, because Osmond really should be up there competing with the Russians when she skates like this.
Satoko was also great. She had such detail in her choreography and interpretation. I prefer her "Planets" program to this one, but she performed as best as she could. The jumps are always questionable/ not my cup of tea, but she did them to the best of her ability tonight.
I just feel sad about the order of the podium. The new system seems to have everything out of whack, and now the gold medal seems to go to the person who is most adept and maximizing her points. And the points don't, IMO, reflect the quality of the programs in much other than jumps and spins. It's too bad.
