2018 Olympic Figure Skating Short Dance

Even if P/C skated perfectly, they will have something to whine about : not real latin, lack of romantic chemistry blah blah blah blah. Basically for them anyone who is competitor to their ice dance deity Tessa and scott = suck.[/QUOTE]

PC skated distracted, tentative with a mistake so today they did not deserve their huge gift of a score, including winning the PCS which is a complete joke

I just want to say, every skating costume I've ever seen come undone in the middle of the performance has been been a halter neck or one that closes at the neck with an open back... Maybe we should retire that particular silhouette. :noshake:

The high neck of Gracie Gold’s blue free skate costume came undone during the Team Free skate at the Sochi Olympics, but it wasn’t a halter style or have an open back and fortunately didn’t seem to affect her skate. I remember a lady trying to fasten it as Gracie exited the ice on her way to the K&C.

Welp, after reading through this thread, I know which event will bring all the    of this Olympics.

Anticipating days of fighting after tmrw's FD, regardless of results.

Four years ago, they scored VM 5 points lower than DW with exactly the same performance on SD.
Now, with a perfect SD, they were scored a lower PCS than PC for a program with a major mistake. The judges just tell the whole world we just want to give the Gold to PC and what can anyone do...
Ice dance is the darkest event in figure skating with no doubt. The judges can simply fully manipulate the rankings simply due to their preference.
Shame on all the judges. What a joke!

Her nipple was out for almost half of the program. Including in the slow-mo close-up shot at the very end of the replay.
Seriously, they could have avoided this :dev2: Unbelievable.

I'm sure they would have avoided showing the clip if they knew about it...

Remember, it's the home broadcaster's production team (often sitting out in a 'production van' in the parking lot) that makes all the quick decisions on what to show in the recaps and in slow-motion. The 'producer' (director) may have been too busy with calling the camera shots during P/C's performance to notice what had happened to her dress.

  • I mean, many of the skating fans commenting tonight in this forum/thread did not notice, and their only job was to watch the TV broadcast (...not 'produce' the broadcast)!!

Also remember, they have only the amount of time the skater uses to "take their bow/curtsy" (~30 seconds) to have all the recaps teed up and ready to go. In such a short amount of time, it's unlikely anyone could even phone or text a message to the broadcast van in time to stop the 'slow-mo nipple reveal'... remember, this is LIVE television...

I say, cut 'em some slack. I'm sure it'll be edited out of the rebroadcast material once it is noticed and pointed out! (pardon the 'sorta' dirty pun ...hehe)

One mistake doesn't make P/C average skaters who was hyped for the gold. They were amazing last years, they were the best actually.
I don't like their SD this season from beginning, just not my cup of tea. But they have stunning FD (you will see tomorrow, I hope they could managed all this pressure) and they deserve to win just as V/M. They're young and it's their first Olympics, monster pressure etc.
And tbh never get why V/M should be untouchable, just like back then when pretty amazing D/W always was the "second ones".

According today, the only ones who really gave this rumba-samba mood was Shibs. The rest was kind of boring in spite of ritmyc motives, IMHO.

Because I'm not declaring this result as irrefutable proof of corruption in dance judging?

Sure, brah.

Oh, dear, of course no, and not at all! You are in tittle of your opinion. Sorry, if I offended you- it was not meant to be so

I was referring your post:

Yes, yes. Anyone outside of NA in ice dance is undeserving and corrupt.

Second verse, same as the first.

P/C Gold
V/M Silver

What a joke of a competition. And what upsets me more is that these crooked judges continue to insult our intelligence . No one can tell me that P/ C deserved 80+ for that performance. If I we're V/M i'd just ask the judges to mail me the silver medal. This is a joke and the discipline should be thrown out of the Olympics.

Never paid much attention to Ice Dance. Though I have seen some of the Shibutanis' videos online from around 2 years ago and have found them wonderful especially the twizzles. In the recent Olympic team event I tried to watch the whole Short Dance event. I was kind of surprised about the scoring differences.

Seems there's a lot of magical stuffs going on with the PCS and GOEs here as well. Glad I am not so invested^^

People wanting the judges to give a costume deduction where the rules say there isn't one warranted kind of says it all.

Except the rules do warrant a deduction.

This is from 2016 rules (if anyone can find a more up-to-date link, please feel free to correct me), found on this ISU.org page.

Rule 50
Clothing
1. At ISU Championships, the Olympic Winter Games and International Competitions, the clothing of the Competitors must be modest, dignified and appropriate for athletic competition – not garish or theatrical in design. Clothing may, however, reflect the character of the music chosen. The clothing must not give the effect of excessive nudity inappropriate for the discipline.

Now, I am very liberal in my views & honestly don't care if nipples are shown on tv. But I do question if the nip slip warranted a deduction by this ISU rule. If it's against their rules, it deserves the deduction, same as if you had a piece of your costume fall onto the ice.

I appreciate Papadakis/Cizeron, but WHERE exctly they have been better now than Hubbel/Donohue??

If judges repeat 1994., when a sloppy "Rock'n'Roll of Grischuk/Platov "overpoliticked" the sensational performance of Torvil/Dean I will stop watching the discipline as I did with the girls competition after Sochi.

Why Monsieur Gailhuget is still around, who was the core figure of Salt Lake Ciry scandal? How much interest this sport wants to lose.
Let the best to win and you will regain appreciation of the people. Exactly how it happened in Pairs here. I did root for the Chinese ones but I am overwhelmedly happy when the best pair was winning (Savchenko/Massot)!

Well congrats to the Shibs for being the only team outside the current top two to receive a 10.00 in program components and that's with them skating in the penultimate group. That level 2 rhumba call was harsh especially seeing how some other teams (like H/K and the Poles) received level 4s there. I thought they should have been closer in scores to second (not that they should be in second) honestly and if this was back in 2016-2017 and NOT the Olympics, they may have been. They are practically tied for third right now. What they need to do is make sure their BV is on level or even higher than H/D and the rest will fall where it will fall. Whatever happens, here's to a great FD competition.

P/C Gold

Sad and pissed off. they made it close so PC can then win the FD....they won the PCS, total joke. Got plus GOE on the twizzles with the mistake...

Well, I agree that CB's skating skills are not top 10 worthy, but PC are no better than Shibs, that's for sure.

Huh? It’s pretty much obvious that P&C have much stronger glide and edge control than C&B. The latter have strong PE skills but SS is an obvious weakness especially where Madison is concerned.

All I wanted and cared about in these Olympics were two things: clean performances and fair judging. Obviously I had too much expectations. :sarcasm:

Scores aside, I feel absolutely gutted for Gabby....takes a lot of mental strength to continue on with the program like that.
