2019 World Championships Free Dance

Ooo this is what this song is called...I had it such in my head last night after watching Kevin Aymos's FS practice on Instagram.

Stunning. I absolutely love this program for the Canadanes, their chemistry, everything. And in intervirws and the like they always seem like such lovely people inside and out.

I confess to missing the man bun a bit though... :slink:

In This Shirt is claimed by Kevin Aymoz, but great stuff. Jean-Luc Baker is amazing to watch

And now I want to see a dance-off between Kevin Aymoz and Jean-Luc Baker

Does anyone know if W/P are retiring? Because I honestly can't imagine handling the fight for Canada's #3 spot between the Canadanes, Soucisse/Firrus, and Lajoie/Lagha when they move up. C R O W D E D domestic field.

I can’t imagine that WP would pass up the chance to skate at Worlds in Canada, can you?

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS MY BBs!!! :yahoo:

Jean Luc is great as always and Kaitlyn finally looks like she has her spark back :sad21:

I hate to say this, but I don't think this should go above the Canadanes....It may purely on GOE, but there were a lot of lost levels

It really bothers me that H/B skate to this song. Maybe it's stupid of me, but it's a gay love song. Also their expression and interpretation have zero to do with it. I hate this program. Exact opposite of what Aymoz is accomplishing with it, which is so brave, emotional and groundbreaking.

I found that program rather monotonous. I also find them very mismatched as a team, both physically and in terms of talent levels (Jean-Luc is a fabulous skater!). I have never really connected with them, but this is one of my least favourite programs that they've done.

Kaitlin HAWAYEK / Jean-Luc BAKER
United States
Music: "Trampoline Theme" by The Irrespressibles, "In This Shirt" by The Irrespressibles
Choreography by: Marie-France Dubreuil
Costumes: Black grey and white ombre floaty dress for her; draped grey top with black pants for him

Program Layout:

I absolutely love this first piece of music. It really does sound like a a cloud bouncing on a trampoline.
Twizzles in multidirections. Montreal has done wonders with their twizzles. Credit due. Level 3 for her, 4 for him. Hmpf. Katlyn gets no respect. 2.39 Perfectly synced by the way.
Curve Lift --> Stationary Lift - same curve lift position as RD; if they can get a bit more speed he could bring that to one foot. Level 3 for the curve, 4 for the StaLi. 1.98 goe
SL Lift - They got rid of the awkward entrance from the GP events. Much better. Level 4, .98 goe
NT Step Seq - shows off their good knees. Nicely musical with good spacing. Level 2 for her, 3 for him. 2.04 goe
Dance Spin - Level 4, 1.28 goe
ML Step Seq - mostly in hold; the choreo is particularly good here. It's not tossed off. Level 3, 2.26 goe
Chor Char Step Seq - with clear axis. But it's not balanced - Jean-Luc gets all the flashy moves. 2.32 goe
Chor Slide - well done and musical. 2.49 goe
Chor Twizzles - Throwing away points here. They could add more points with a better choreographic move. Going to be interesting to see how these choreographic moves are approached next season. 2.16 goe

Yes it's Montreal Mush to a large degree. But it should tell you just how good these two are that they can pull this off. Kaitlyn in particular just pours her soul into those final spread eagles. And to be fair, it does look like real effort was put into the choreography.

But Liebestraume was a better program. So was Romeo and Juliet. Honestly, I'd LOVE to see what Marina Z would do with these two.

Interesting that no one has noticed "In This Shirt" is a gay love song.

Score: 113.16

I wonder how I'd feel about this program had I not seen Aymoz first. It somewhat pales in comparison. I actually preferred the previous team but it was very well done. Jean-Luc's slide is one of my favorite elements of the season.

I hate to say this, but I don't think this should go above the Canadanes....It may purely on GOE, but there were a lot of lost levels

They kinda didn't? I mean overall ahead, but behind on just the FD
