Yeah OK, that's just nasty.

Are you seriously claiming neither Mark nor Zhenya can skate?

Why do people always have to exaggerate? You can say you perferred Andrei, but do you have to be a jerk to Mark and Zhenya to do so?
Every figure skater can skate, obviously. It's the matter of quality. Mark and Zhenya have worse skating skills and transitions than Andrei and should be put below him, not above him. However, that Russian judge gave Zhenya 44 PCS and only 42 PCS to Andrei. This just doesn't reflect reality.

Oh please, don't let us stoop to the level of the RLT.
All three guys had amazing skates yesterday, let's celebrate that! PCS and GOE scoring isn't real anyway (that's what I live by now ).
Sorry! I didn't mean to be a downer. I will fast today to cleanse any negative energies and in hopes of the best possible outcome for everyone. They are all three very deserving young men.

In terms of PCS, I think that Mark is the best performer, Andrei has the best SS/TR/CO, and Zhenya is the weakest of the three PCS-wise

Oh please, don't apologize, it wasn't directed at anyone in particular. Maybe I'm overly sensitive. 😅
Also, are you sure fasting is a good idea? Don't you need all that energy to inflate more balloons for tomorrow? ;)

I am not actually a huge personal fan of either Mozalev or Aliev, but their quality of skating is objectively better, both skating skills and choreo basics. It makes me sad when this is ignored by the judges. Nobody is born with good skating quality, it's something you need to put a lot of work into to develop. Skaters like Semenenko and Kondratiuk make me scratch my head and ask how exactly they have been taught since age 5 or so. They have natural charisma and certain musicality but that talent doesn't seem to be built on properly. Even their jump technique is problematic. I remember an odd interview with Sokolovskaya when Samarin first rose to prominence as if she'd only just now realised that he needs proper ballet/dance training. It should be pointed out that it is in fact Aliev who essentially learned to skate in the wilderness until age 13 or so, and look where he's now.

I kinda decided yesterday, heh :)

I think Mozalev has as good IN as Kondratyuk, fitting to the music they present, but, yes, Mozalev needs to use his eyes and smile far more, which I hope is coming.

Edit: Also, after Hendrickx's breathtaking skate, I have an additional crazy wish for Russian men podium sweep, while Hendrickx takes bronze over Scherbakova...

I am not sure this particular SP requires smiling.

Soulful eyes he does have too; smile as an ultimate weapon once he gets an upbeat program to totally stun the appreciative world (Mozalev, upbeat program? Okay, I admit, that might be more far-fetched than him medaling)

Edit: though I do think he could pull off a martyred smile in the beginning... before things really start crushing that heart of his

The level of inconsistency in Russian skating is incredible... only in pairs have their 3rd place for the Olympics been very well defined, in women, dance and men, 3rd place is absolutely unknown. Mozalev had everything to keep the 3rd Olympic place but his inconsistency returned.

Kondratiuk proving that since the Channel One Cup he is the safest card for Russian men's skating, he is slowly gaining his PCS.

Slowly? 90 is slowly? Only Kolyada has ever beaten Mark's PCS here, not even Aliev who is also a European champion and has those PCS. I have no words with this scoring.

Today it was an example how one mistake can ruin your medal chance. If Mozalev didn't pop the 4S he could have won. This way he lost the difference of points between the 3S and 4S (and he also got negative GOE so it's like 10 points) and he also lost points for the 3S in the last combo. And he needed about 14 points to take the gold.

As for the consistency, on the other hand I think it's getting better finally, even with the mistakes we saw today it is not what it was several years ago with 220 points in total for poor Samarin at the previous Europeans and so.

Yes, he needs it drilled through his head that if he triples the 4S, the euler combo gets a 2S, just as Kolyada had it drilled through his.

Congrats to the men's... it have been along time that the combine of all programs were that good ... K. fight for every jump and won... M. he did one true mistake and that's it ..and even S. there were a little more mistakes ... but there is progress!

I wonder if this is enough for Mozalev to get that Olympic spot. He's beaten Semenenko again but it wasn't a decisive victory.
Insufficient. Basically, yet again they were equivalent, but Mozalev marginally better. Nobody is going to lobby to change Semenenko to Mozalev, because… why? In the end of the day, it again came to Mozalev needing the second quad. I hope he will be ready for Russian Cup Finsl, and if not, for the next season.

I pray someone does... because I don't think I could stand the hate Zhenya S will get if he goes. It will be unbearable.

They'll make him wish he was never born, let alone put on a pair of skates.

😔
