He is, but I am in agreement with @vorravorra logic—no Russian mean would dare miss the only WC in 4 years where a Russian man has a chance to medal. So with exception of injuries, which, again, I would never wish for any athlete, Mozalev’s one last competition of the season could be CoR Final if he is lucky. Apparently, it’s possible. If he could win gold there, I hope he could get Rostelecom GP next year and the Challengers to start rebuilding his rank. I just don’t think 252 is going to keep him in top 20 in an Olympic year. He needs to somehow pull off 90 in the short and repeat 180 in the free in the same event. God knows how.
The Russian federation could still give Evgeni Olympics and Andrei worlds.

Ice is slippery, particularly for men and the federation only forgives Kolyada.
I’m just going to focus on my hopes that Mozalev has enough mental fortitude to enter the CoR final and skate a clean SP there with 4S. Alternatively, that he would change his club early and has a break out season next year.

Heh, as someone who wasn't here for Plushenko's drama, I actually like Plushenko. What I don't like is the fixation on 'new Plushenko'

1tv did one of their Behind the Scenes compilations for the RusNats men's event. Tbh, I'd hoped for a bigger selection of skaters shown. Judging from the footage, you'd get the impression that only the Team Mishin and Sokolovskaya guys participated in the warm-up sessions. But there are some cool sped-up/slowed-down shots of the actual performances, as well as some funny coach reactions.

It was still pretty good!

And where would he go?
In the heat of the moment, my ‘and hear me out’ thought was Tutberidze. I listened to her interview since, and her opinion on motivating men. If it were me, born again and with different talents, she would be my pick. Mozalev is his own person, who knows with certainty what he has to do, what he wants and needs, so whatever he chooses to pursue, I will consider it the right choice. He simply knows best.

Really, after you listened to her interview?
As much as I respect Tutberidze's work with the girls and women, I do not think her over-training, one-style-fits-all approach works for the men. @Flying Feijoa gave a pretty exhaustive summary of ex-Tutberidze guys and the various injuries they sustained while training at Khrustalniy. And you really want Mozalev to go to Tutberidze, where he would pound away at the quad Flip together with girls half his age and half his weight until his picking foot breaks in four different places?

As I said—in the heat of the moment. I want Mozalev to do what he considers right for himself. I will watch him in the Cup of Russia if that’s what he wants to do. Voronov and Kvitalashvili both did well with Tutberidze. The growing guys, absolutely, categorically not. And, well, lots of girls in that group are basically his age. And one of those girls wears the same color medal he does, but will represent Russia in EC.

As for 4F, they carried it too far as is. But he now pulled an unlucky ticket of training as if he is going without going, so that is not exactly trauma-free proposition.

Yeah, well, Tutberidze would've made him jump it until he broke sometihing, just like @CrazyKittenLady said. No thank you.

And Morisi? What about Morisi? The very same Morisi Kvitelashvili that skates cleanly about once a year? I wouldn't call it "doing well".
Maybe, but he didn’t break anything.

Let’s see what happens in RCF, or, if he (Mozalev, lol, not MK) doesn’t compete there, then next year. I am just hoping for 4T-3T 4S as the magic formula.

Why do you think he's gonna compete there?
This is just my guessing. It’s the only competition he is eligible for this season. He will be in training as an Olympic alt until close to it. So, it seems logical to me that they would enter, if there is a chance for him to win it, particularly if they want to strengthen the case for domestic GP assignment. 🙏

Watching right now! It's fun picking out the skaters when they're all in their black work out gear :)

Although where's Kirill S during these warm ups, perhaps always standing behind a taller guy ;)

Nice to see Artem K getting love though.

Aww did they gave to show poor Sasha S's fall? Rude!

Also a lot of Petr G love which is always appreciated also.

Dima 🥰 aww he's so disappointed.

Kirill! Wait...no retrospective on Kirill's skate?! This is Kirill erasure and I'm hurt :(

Although there was also Ilya Y and ice cream erasure, tsk.

Still an interesting watch!
