I would prefer Mozalev to not Zayak like in Tallinn! If I can negotiate with the Universe, it would be Estonian short and French free... but Universe is a tough cookie.

The worst outcome for any of them would be not making the FS, but also, figuring out of top 10 is not a good look either. I think if they perform close to what they did in Tallinn they will even get to reach the final warm up group, but it’s all up in the air. They’ll not get PCS bonus at the Olympics, that’s for sure.

And now to wonder who will become the scapegoat this time. Hopefully none of them!

Even with a bad skate I think all of them will enter the FS ... but I think not all of them will get in the top ten .. if they do that will be great..... if one is in the top 6 I will be glad
And PCS ... that for sure one of them will get PCS .. because one of them will have all the power of Russia ( no matter if russia is without a flag) behind him .. and that means PCS

I don't think will be a scapegot if they skate at least clean... because none of them would be the first choice of the Russian committee and they have no experience .. you can't get miracles

I disagree, because I am tired of Mozalenko walking the wire, destroying both promising skaters. If all three young athletes remain healthy and compete in the Olympics, the least they can get, independently of the results, are the spots at the post-Olympic worlds. With the way things appear right now, Russia will have to rebuild man's singles team from the younger skaters, and all three need senior international experience and stability. If Kolyada returns to competitive shape next season, he can compete then. It is unfortunate and sad that he fell ill, but these macabre hunger games got to stop.

I am going to reply here. This will strongly depend on how the three will do at the Olympics. If the Fed is worried about spots for the next Worlds they will send Kolyada since he's been consistently reliable in bringing them (provided that he is in the shape to go, of course).

As for the regular fans, most want to watch the White Crow rather than Woland and you can hardly blame them. And few want Kolyada's career to end on such a note.

You are only fourth at Nationals, but wait, the Fed has decided you are going to Euros (and by extention Olympics), no, your main rival is also going, now the Fed can't decide which one of you to pick, no, they picked the other guy, no, you are also going except there is COVID in your group...

Well, at least he wasn't told 'not good enough' like Mozalev, then, oh, wait! no! good enough. Two days hence, skate! Good enough? Eh... Wait a week to find out...

Now they are both locked in Krasnoyarsk with a potential Covid exposure. It's insane level of stress.

But quite a few are already in Krasnoyarsk, including M/G, B/K and S/K. It's too late to do anything about them. And there have been three positive tests there. Moreover, the entire men's team including alternates is currently there.

I get the idea of the camp as it's only one hour behind Beijing time allowing better acclimatisation. But WTH no bubbling?!

I'm very worried Zhenya S will get it too especially since the off-ice coach had already tested positive.

Hear me out, Universe. There is that camp in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, and a whole bunch of young, hopeful people who worked so darn hard. You screw with them, and your eventual thermal death will be even more inevitable and thermal. Best of health and some sort of comfort to ether Russian team, including but not limited to Kondratyuk, Mozalev, Semenenko and Gumennik. And, like, overall, have mercy on us and ours.

Everytime time I've seen Mishin on laptop screen, not even once he wore mask properly. If a whole team acted like that, it was bound for someone to get it... I'm generally not a fan of Montreal team domination etc., but I really liked how careful they are with it. They really do everything to avoid being out of Olys because of it and considering all restrictions, it's the right way... I just hope no one else will catch it at camp and that they actually did take some measures to avoid it, instead of just hoping for the best.

To break up doom and gloom a little bit, I had finalized the balloon color choices for the Olympic cheering session. It's purple, gold and red, so the plan is gold for Kondratyuk and red for Semenenko, to go with the costumes more or less. Any thoughts on why it shouldn't be so are accepted

Timing in life is everything, alas, you can be super talented and hard working and the rest and not get anywhere just because the luck was not on your side. Oh Mika... sigh...
In this particular situation the fact that just right now Omicron wave reaching its peak in Moscow & St Petersburg it is the most unfortunate timing, a month ago or month later and things could have been very different. Ireland passed its peak on the 8th January. And I can tell you that around Christmas the concentration of the virus was such you could smell it. I didn;t go anywhere at all, didn't meet anyone, went to supermarket to do grocery shopping (I wore a mask!) and came home not alone but with Covid, damn it. We had like 25,000 cases everyday (5 mil population) and nobody knows how many were actually infected because the availability of tests capped at this level. So what I am trying to say when at its peak there is no escape from Omicron. Just most unlucky timing.
