I don't have such fears for Mozalenko. This is a golden opportunity for Mozalev as he has the highest scoring potential of the three men. It's going to be such a statement if he finishes as the top Russian man. I just hope he plays it smart in the SP because not making the free skate will also be a statement. Mozalev isn't a nervy skater, though. His issues are technical content that he can't quite handle, not nerves. I'm taking Kondratiuk's European scores with a huge barrel of salt so I'm going to say all three men are good for a 250-260. Such scores will probably fall right outside the top ten, but those numbers aren't bad at all. These guys aren't Chen and Hanyu, in which such a score means they bombed. It's going to be hard for all three men to fall in the top 10, but it's not impossible. Realistically, they're going to fall behind all three Japanese men and probably all three American men, as well. At least two. That's five spots right there. The real competition is from the handful of guys that can score the same: guys like Grassl, Messing, Cha, et al. Semenenko is more nervy than Mozalev is, but he held himself up very well at Worlds last year and he doesn't implode . He's just messy. His problem may be that he cannot handle being in first place going into the free, but that won't be the case at the Olympics. They'll be fine.
Kondratiuk is the skater most likely to be buried by these Olympics, not Mozalenko. They're much more pressure on him now as it's practically a certainty that he'll skate both programs in the team event now and I'm worried about his scores. The Olympics aint Europeans and he's not Kolyada. In the team event, he's going head-to-head with certain skaters and I'm having a hard time imagining him outscoring at least 4 men if they're clean/cleanish, even if he's also clean. Maybe even 5. Hopefully, he just skates clean and if others outscore him, well, I think he'll be fine. There's a big difference between placing 4th in the SP because you bombed and placing 4th because you did well, but others were just better.
