2022 Olympics Team Event Day1: Rhythm Dance

I've been meaning to point out how good Johnny Weir has gotten in his knowledge of ice dance. He's always been a very good commentator of figure skating. His skill as a commentator when he's with Tara is lessened a bit because she eats up so much air in the booth, and both Terry and Johnny are protective of her. She always needs to take things down a notch. They all three have a good rapport, but Tara too often overtalks. With Tanith (who is so good in her commentating and in her knowledge of ice dance), it's obvious that things flow more smoothly, and Johnny is able to show off his commentating skill better than when Tara is in the booth. He has no need to compensate or be protective of Tanith who more than holds her own. I can tell that Johnny has worked diligently to learn more about ice dance, because he didn't know much about this discipline when he first began commentating.

I noticed how good Terry, Tanith and Johnny are together commentating ice dance, at U.S. Nationals this year.

Interesting that Hubbell and Donohue were skating forward while Sinitsina and Katsalapov were charging towards them skating backwards and Maddy and Zach didn’t appear intent on moving out of their way. Nikita was pissed!

On NBC, they were showing a bit of contact during the warm-up between SinKats and Hub/Don. Nikita looked angry. I have to laugh. I don't like the way the Russians have been pushed up in the scoring, and all of a sudden SinKats is supposed to be better than North American teams. They are NOT. I don't care what the judges give SinKats. This type of push by Rusfed has spoiled my enjoyment of ice dance.

Oh I see you mentioned the warmup contact before my post @museksk8r. Once again, so what! Watch where you are going in the warmup, and learn how to shrug it off. No one was hurt. It was minimal contact. Rivals don't give way on the ice during warmups, so watch where you are going. No one needs to have sympathy for Russian ice dancers, IMO.
