2022 Olympics Team Event Day1: Rhythm Dance

I went back and watched the warm-up and, yes, it was H/D's fault but it was just an accident and not a serious crash. I can't imagine she suffered any injury.

Plus, he's the one who made the visible errors not her.
And it's It's not like those two haven't run into people multiple times in warmup before and been the ones more at fault. I remember they ran into V/M so hard at NHK a few seasons ago that there was a visible bruise on Tessa's leg. These things happen. It's not on purpose.

Late but on the subject of the Germans, I want to clarify that I’m not offended by their program because of some kind of “moral” panic. I just feel like they’re relying too much on voice overs to tell the story of their characters (instead of their skating) to the point that it becomes a crutch and actually overwhelmed them at times. The choreography also felt clumsy at times (thinking of stuff like the shaking her head move) both too literal and too generic at different times. It’s just a really clumsily designed program for a concept that needed better execution. Still at least it’s… memorable?
I enjoy watching the Germans. They are not a top ice dance team, so their skill level is not the highest. They are a young team who are still learning and improving. They have acted this program better in other performances I have seen. Most people understand who those characters actually are from Suicide Squad! Very colorful, creative, and nice risk-taking, IMO. They have skated that program much better this season. They were nervous and a bit tight in this performance, as the commentators noted.

us Americans struggle in both pairs and ladies with consistency.
Eh. Even when they skate well, the politics is NOT in favor of U.S. pairs teams or U.S. ladies. Everyone knows that, so no need to pile on with the negative perceptions. U.S. ladies and U.S. pairs have lots of depth, talent, and competitiveness. They are solid and competent in their abilities, but not highly regarded, because U.S. ladies don't have quads and triple axels, and sometimes are inconsistent on 3/3s, while U.S. pairs are actually quite talented, but tend to be looked down on and not given due credit by judges for their strengths. That's a fact. It is what it is.

Oh my goodness who was saying that the Germans were offensive or promoting some sort of spark in domestic violence??

There was legit another german ice dance team back in 2014 that had the same sort of crazy programs and nobody made up conspiracy theories.

People need to chill out...eat a pack of chips...and get over it.

That's not about 'being better' that's about not being a jerk - the Americans were skating forward towards them, H/D should have moved. Considering Nikita's back, jerking, unexpected moves could tweak it - no issue from me with him giving H/D a dirty look.
Is this the same look he gave to Gleb and Diana whe they crossed him during practice?

Idk, (and this is just a thought) but maybe there is a pattern with Nikita's attitude 🤷‍♂️

I guess you are talking to whoever even brought up the topic of being 'offended' by the Germans' fun, creative RD. Therefore you must be agreeing with my post, since I don't think anything was done in their program to come even close to being 'offended' by. The Germans are a charming young couple who appear to also be a couple off-the-ice.

The placements here show the door is open for them, albeit slightly, to beat Sinitsina/Katsalapov.
Sure, but once again, Madi/Zach are only focusing on themselves and enjoying this winding down of their career. They are always hungry and competitive, but I don't think they came in with over-expectations. They will simply do their best and enjoy themselves in the process. This they are doing for themselves and for each other.

I love Madi & Zach. I once gave them on-ice gifts at an event and I affectionately nicknamed them Boss Diva and her Anchor Man!!! ❤️

which team ran into Tessa & Scott?

Well I think USA is looking great in all the events. Russia is in trouble. SK had visible errors and injuries and endurance is really reminding me of domina and shabalin. Canada is not looking good at all in dance or anything. They looked nervous and the US looks like they are going to get silver and bronze. And the Italians look lucky and will beat Gilles and Porier AND Stepanova Bukin who are suspected to be dealing with Covid? But Italy, US looked awesome.

In my opinion, I think Russia still has the edge for gold. M/G and Valieva are out of this world amazing and us Americans struggle in both pairs and ladies with consistency.
It's over, Russia lost the gold medal, 8 points in couples, and the Americans laughs saying that it has no they had pairs, After dance the USA options were 50%, now it is 90%

The Japanese pair team were way better than Alexa and Brandon!

Sui/Han have to be perfect to beat M/G in the pairs event. It’s so close.

Nikita is known to have a bad attitude. He was really mean to both of his partners and released by one of his coaching teams due to his attitude. He was looking back while skating also. I don’t think he wants to cop an attitude with Zach or Madison.

I don't think Madi/Zach are at all overly concerned with what the judges are going to do. They deserved a high score and they got that. They seem to mainly be focused on enjoying this final competitive experience. They don't seem to be allowing anything to penetrate their calm and focus. This was a very good, loose, controlled and in-the-zone RD for Madi/Zach.

Everyone still knows that SinKats are judges' pets.
Madison and Zach were on fire tonight. Best performance of their RD. Their dance moves were really good.

I thought Piper and Paul's short was so cringe all season so I'm glad to see them get marked appropriately and take a dip in the OBM fight.

The Russians are too close to the Americans though. Italians were a snooze as always.
I like P/P a lot because they have good skills and artistry, but their RD is not medal worthy to me. Like the FD better, it highlights their skills.

If your ice dance eye is untrained, you are basing your views on how you perceive or like how SinKats perform. They have improved, as I said, but they have never deserved to be pushed up to the top so precipitously as they have been. It's political.
Even S/K’s skills cannot save that RD program. Dont know how the got such high scores at their gran Prix.

I don't follow dance super closely, but were H/D expected to be in first considering this lineup?

In my (relatively uninformed) brain I was expecting 2nd or 3rd. Did the Russians make a major mistake? I didn't watch live and I watched without commentary.

Russians were supposed to win this. They made small errors and were tight... They were not penalized that much for their errors IMHO but enough to place 2nd. Piper and Paul were expected to beat the Italians. They did in PCS but were hurt with low levels. I really don't see how they didn't get level4 twizzles.... which usually teams of that tier do not miss unless they make them with visible mistakes... but that was enough (and the step sequence at poor level 2) to keep them behind. So for those saying that Piper and Paul were dropped by the judges... it's not 100% correct since they did do ok in PCS. They lost a lot on levels... which could be very different during the ID competition depending on how they perform and/or who is the panel

The male stumbled and a level was dropped on one of their required skills.
