I don't think Madi/Zach are at all overly concerned with what the judges are going to do. They deserved a high score and they got that. They seem to mainly be focused on enjoying this final competitive experience. They don't seem to be allowing anything to penetrate their calm and focus. This was a very good, loose, controlled and in-the-zone RD for Madi/Zach.

Everyone still knows that SinKats are judges' pets.

Yeah they got destroyed on their levels. Not sure how they didn’t hit their twizzle levels. I hope they clean it up going into the FD.

The fact that S/K was given the same GOE as H/D on their twizzles and higher GOE on their MiSt is just the worst.

Italy should be 2nd but wow what a start from the US.

With my untrained ice dance eye, I thought that the Russians were best. But they had clealy a couple of minor mistakes so they are second. Seems fair to me.

If your ice dance eye is untrained, you are basing your views on how you perceive or like how SinKats perform. They have improved, as I said, but they have never deserved to be pushed up to the top so precipitously as they have been. It's political.

Even though I wanted the Canadians to do better I can for sure say H/D were spot on tonight as we’re G/F. In a rightful world they would be much higher than the Russians and def deserved to be higher than the Canadians after that RD.

(I went with clover because while the others are great I feel like it's lucky to have a mostly clean skate and watermelon because it's a sudden surprise like cutting into a watermelon and seeing the different colours)

Exactly. Just as I said to the earlier poster, Madi/Zach have no need to get 'excited' about anything the judges do, simply because they are slightly ahead. Madi/Zach are focused on doing what they can do at their highest level, and enjoying this final competitive experience (unless they are going to Worlds) to the fullest.

More Drama: Someone on another forum I'm on posted screenshots of Sinitsina holding her head and Katsalapov looking really angry towards H/D saying Donohue accidently hit Sinitsina during the warm up.

I'm rooting hard for the Team Russia but I've always been cold to S/K and I've always thought Russia only had a very slight edge for Gold and that it wouldn't take much for the US to win.

Then they don't win or whatever and crickets. Like no-one has the grace to apologise. They just pretend they never said it and we're all supposed to forget they did.

Mmmm'kay that's totally fair.

H/D won and only barely compared to a team that had shaky 2nd set of twizzles and at least two obvious stumbles. The number of 9.75s for such a messy skate are astonishing.

When Russia earns their placement, like Kondratiuk, it’s fine but let’s not pretend like Russia isn’t given favouritism in the team event compared to other countries.

If other teams had the errors S/K had, they would have been buried.

Well. Little mistake in the twizzles and visible mistake at the midline steps. The italians were flawless. This is not hate this is just accurate judging.

I went back and watched the warm-up and, yes, it was H/D's fault but it was just an accident and not a serious crash. I can't imagine she suffered any injury.

Plus, he's the one who made the visible errors not her.
