2022 Olympics Team Event Day3: Free Dance

I have a problem with the manic ending of Viki/Nikita's free dance.

This feels like a Skating Skills program - fast, lots of glide, movement. Everything flows from one moment to the next like one continuous phrase. And that's the strength and weakness of it. I'm not sure what the story is or how I'm supposed to feel about the program, though what I do get is that this is a strong technical feat. I also like their black and white costumes much better than that leopard hip-hop thing. Should go easily into first place for now at least.

Compared to the other S/K always put in the extra effort. Sometimes I think they are overdoing it a little, but no doubt this should lead anyway.

Eurosport is really digging into S\Ks FD, Despite enjoying it,

Calling it safe and not quite Gold medal standard

Ok, I will take a dozen of VS and I still find him fake and creepy. It's a much better program than last year's UNTIL the absolutely hiddy music change. Take about nails on a chalkboard. I'm rooting for P/C for the gold.

But that will probably win this segment.

Nikita is labored in this competition. I don't think he has as big of an injury as Maxim Shabalin's knee in 2010, but definitely shades of that.

Well in their defense, S/B aren't in Beijing yet and the alternate was D/S who could have put Russia in a precarious position. So if they can't make it for the individual event I don't think it's the same situation

What in the heck is the random last part of that program?? It makes zero musical (or other) sense. They skated relatively well, but I found the program boring... followed by confusing.

I think it represents freedom?

Like Rach 2 is so...classical? Like following the rules being a "proper artiste" and all that.

Then they come out and party! It's their final season, let's make some noise!

Belinda doesn't like it, but I actually think it works? But I'm a little odd.

Yeah, i like the cam we have at this Olympics. You can see how their basic skating is above Canadians, but they are not on the same level of P/C with this i think

I really don't understand that last section of this FS

But everything else seemed great

this is a classical musician nightmare copy and paste.... it's not because Rachmaninoff wrote variations on a theme by paganini that it can be attached to his concerto... i won't mention anything else but it's a major no no for a musician

it's Rach Pag variations... they thought it would work because it's the same composer .. but it doesn't

Chris is giving no mercy with this Rach program in terms of composition. There are critiques about twizzles as well.

He also said the deduction is for extended lift.
