2022 Olympics: Women's Free Skate

I just saw Women Figure Skating gala exhibition invitation online. Now sure it's accurate or not.

Anna
Alexandra
Koari
Alysa Liu
Young You
Leona

p.s.: Kamila is not on Gala list.

Anna's mother😊

Thank you very much for the wishes. I haven't watched anna's skate yet. I talked to Anna, she says that she's calm. I am also very calm. I don't feel neither joyful, nor negative emotions - so far that's how I feel..

- so the emotions still haven't arrived?
- yes, I haven't watched her skate. I only answered the messages that I received.
- are you proud of your daughter?
- I am proud of her all the time, not because of the specific competitions.
- anna is world and Olympic Champion. how do you think, will she have some motivation to continue skating?
- she's skating because she loves doing it. she loves all the feelings when she is on the ice. That's why i think that her motivation won't leave her.

Now after calming down a bit I think in the very (long) run it may be better for Kamila it ended this way. No human being watching figure skating will go after her know. Seing her crumble like that was heartbreaking. In the long run she will be perceived as a victime of her team/system/court or whatever. All adults around her failed to do the fundamental thing: protecting her. Rather ar Olympic champion cheat, it may be better this way. If she has mental strenght to recover from this after the dopping issue is settled, she won’t have the stigma of “cheating champion”, the athlete who had the medal taken away for dopping etc. But he needs time, healing and a healthy training environment for that…

Trusova - I don’t judge her for her breakdown. I have no idea what is behind closed doors. She pulled herself together and went to the ceremony. No big deal. Should have had some privacy to pull herself together.

Anna pulled a Sotnikova. Benefited from not being in the spotlight. Deserving champion, and a very composed down to earth athlete.

Kaori is the skater thanks to which I will not completely erase this competition from mind. The hug between her and Wakaba made my day.

Gubanova was brilliant and too low in the standings though I find it hard to root for her now after the instagram story bullying Kamila. She could have expressed her views in an entire diferent manner (e.g, like Yu Na Kim).

Tara on NBC talks about Alysa miss triple triple in bonus program by just "one second". Damn. Alysa miss that 10% bonus points. If Alysa lands triple triple in second half program, what score she would get? 210, right?

Sotnikova may have been out of the spotlight.......but clearly crooked judging is what gave Sotnikova the gold. No comparison here at all.

Did anyone watch on German Eurosport, omg, Siggi Heinrich was on his worst today, complaining a million times that Sasha didn't win and that she deserved higher PC marks (especially on that point I strongly disagree). Obviously Siggi Heinrich forgot that there was a sp as well and had Sasha skated it well she would have won, plus she won the fp. That being said of course Sasha would also have been a worthy Olympic champion. But Anna was flawless, and I'm happy that she won.

I am very happy for Anna. Very deserving of her Gold.
Any one who does not feel bad for Kamila has no heart.
The whole thing must be devastating for her. Only 15 and still a child.
Innocent until proven guilty no longer applies it seems.
Karo's style of skating has never been my cup of tea.
Happy for Sasha and her Silver too. She does give it her all and what
more can you ask.

I'd like to see Trusova and Valieva leave Eteri. Anna is probably done. She met her life goal and can now retire and live the rest of her life. Now that Krystal is going to be intensively investigated I hope many girls leave Eteri's camp. She's too hot a potato now. She can train Daria and Maiia and hope for the best with her juniors if they decide to stay with her. If I had a child at Krystal, I'd remove her.

I wonder if Eteri should be afraid of Sasha now that she's gone full nuclear......
Hopefully she doesn't ask for the dog back. I still find it strange how she could just give away a dog so easy.

Honestly, I really hate that there were all these cameras showing this backstage drama live to the whole world, these girls deserved to have a few minutes of privacy to sort out their feelings after all the doping drama and the relentless pressure they have been under for years.

But the problem was that the drama was happening front stage. It's not like they managed to sneak Trusova or Valieva in the back room where they exercise/warm up.

In fact, I dare say, Trusova just did not care.

The problem is, (correct me if I'm wrong) I don't think there is a 'back room' where the skaters could have privacy. Throughout the event, we've seen all the skaters off-ice, warming up, talking, stretching, using floormats, and more.

Media is all over the rink, and I don't think there is anywhere that Team Eteri could've taken any of the women without having cameras getting the reactions, except perhaps the women's room.

I vote for Trusova. Scherbakova not receiving any calls when everyone else was slaughtered is likely an artifact of judging in this event.
What calls? I can only refer to the Swedish Eurosport commentators who has been excellent during these games and has a lot of technical insight. A coach and a former figure skater. They thought that Anna's skate was fantastic, and had no errors, but they pointed out that maybe her 3S was a q. Something that wouldn't have mattered in the long run.

I felt Kamila should not have been allowed on Olympic ice. You can't dope and still skate on the biggest stage in the world.

With that being said, my heart aches for her. Such a beautiful girl like that is a victim of a sick, twisted system that could ruin her.

Kamila needs to get away from Eteri before she completely ruins her. Go talk to Evgenia about how she got away. It's hard. She's 15 and someone like this completely going to waste would be a pity to the sport.

The "back room" is usually reserved for the top 3. They kept showing it during the men's event

I wonder if like in Tennis, where the players supporting team throw towel on the camera set up there, if the team could have asked for privacy to be respected in back stage? But this being Olympics, which I've now realised is very much voyeuristic in the coverage, I guess hardly an option. Also, wondered if they had chosen to huddle or something; but then Trusova would have broken out of the circle with ease.

Yes. If we go back to their junior days, no one would have thought that Anna would be the Olympic champion. Sasha was always the technical skater and Aliona the artistic skater. And Anna were somewhere in the shadow.
And I remember very well doing GPs in 3A's first senior season. Johnny Weir accurately pointed this out. Kostornaia was the artistic one, Trusova the techical one, and Shcherbakova the "middle child". But he said...come Olympic season, things might be different, and the middle child might strike! How right he was!!
