2022 Winter Olympics: Rhythm Dance

What? She is fantastic. The Aussie commentator at the summer Olympics was equally fantastic. Very knowledgeable, offer helpful insights (she's one of the FIRST commentators I've heard connect the importance of different parts of the blade, knee action, edges, and posture/position over the blade), and she actually references things like (eg) the size of a team's pattern, ice coverage, changes of direction, 'watch the rocker', brackets, etc. I'd rather have that than the bombast of Jonny Weir or (in the past) the ubiquitous squeals of Scott Hamilton ("It's a BEAUTY" (as skater steps out of underrotated jump...)).

Although I have to say that Tessa and Scott have great potential. I didn't hear much of their commentary (they use the Aussie lady on CBC replays) but they are both extremely articulate, and provide insights that only experts like them can offer.

Anyhoo, I prefer the Aussie lady and Voirs to any of the commentators at the recent Canadian nationals, who gushed with superlatives at just anything that wasn't a fall...
Hear, hear. I thought she was marvelous too, and so helpful to a casual audience, and the best refutation to idiots like Johnny Weir who think ID isn't "real" skating.

Tanith Belben White is also a first rate ID commentator. Haven't heard Voir yet, but as an Honorary Canadian I live in hope!

I would like to see more "ballroom/latin" intensity (not possible in this RD) because I personally find the "sportive" qualities easier to note, with the high intensity of a jive, quickstep or a samba etc.. (and I guess that's why I love the parrots) but IAM is doing very well.
YES! That is what we need. Let's be honest, everybody recognizes a jive, waltz, and samba/latin. They are distinctive, and allow for the teams to get into character. Plus they have more established patterns. Midnight blues did not fit with this year's theme. Yuck. But I agree, I would have loved to see jive, or any other of the dances you mentioned.

My dream team would be Tanith and Terry.

I swear that French guy from Montreal Dance team is in every ice dance team kiss n cry maybe except for the Russian skaters. Someone plz calculate what percentage of the ice teams here do they own.
Eleven teams I think. He along with his wife Marie France owns the Montreal Dance SCHOOL.

I think the person was talking about Romain Hagenauer. Patrice Lauzon is Marie-France's husband. I think we saw Romain in the KnC more often, that's why I am making the precision.

I wonder if the judges threw the Russian team a proverbial bone. Hear me out. There’s a good chance they get stripped of the team medal due to no actions of their own. There’s less than 2 points between them and Hubble/Donahue. Second in the RD is a consolation prize.

The Russian and Polish judges placements for the teams definitely raised my eyebrow..

The Chinese commentators mentioned how big P/C's pattern looked from the vantage point in the stadium ("eclipsed all the other teams' who came before), how curvy and clear their tracings on the ice were, and how fast they skated. They also said that the Russian commentators sitting next to them were clearly "moved/shaken". Fuzzy word choice but I guess they meant that the Russians had a visible reaction to that skate.

P/C, those twizzles were on fire.🔥🔥Gabi brought the drama tonight. Now I can breathe for a day.
H/D should have been ahead of S/K.
S/K skated well, but their program is dated and his costume should have been given a 1 point deduction.
C/B will come back in the FD.
Lots of good skating. I think most of the teams were a little nervous.
Johnny never has anything negative to say about the Russian teams, but he can say catty remarks about the other teams. 😠 Where did Tanith see charisma?
