Hooray, Kaoruko clean! She was so fast and smooth across the ice, and that opening 2A looked effortless. Her spins were really well centred, and I loved the bi-directional spin at the end. What a lovely skate from her in her debut GP season.

Have to admit, I don't know this skater or this song. But Kaoruko WADA (JPN) skated beautifully to it.

As for the dress, although it is pink, it is one of those dreses that blends into the ice.

Ami is one of the most experienced skaters here, and she is the first one to be fully comfortable in the steps. The rest of the skaters have been really tight or had little bobbles on that element, but she didn't let up at all. Her performance ability is also far and away the best we've seen today, her careful consideration of every head movement and those subtle movements she makes are so well done. Her 2A was scratchy, and she had a little wobble on her flying camel spin (which she did well to salvage), but she had great flow out of the other jumps and excellent commitment to the program the whole time.

I think Ami had a chance to take the lead, but some nervous moments in her double axel and a shaky camel spin entry will hurt her. Sometimes you just want it so bad, you overdo it.

Ami is so responsive to the music - the drama of the opening of the step sequence, the relevé on her toe picks with reaching arms. The 2A was alarming, but she saved it like a cat. The depth of knee bend of the landing of her 3Lz was impressive too. Another beautiful skate!
