I don't think the argument is that Mone was scored too low. Its that Amber was scored too high.Mone’s SP really doesn’t display the wonderful quality of her skating in the way that her sublime FS does. I understand Mone being marked lower in the SP because the music doesn’t fit her style of skating at all in terms of interpretation and performance. She doesn’t give the energy and expression in her performance to match the uptempo of her SP music, so I agree that her PCS in the SP are lower than that of Amber. Skating is not just about jumps either. Mone earned a level 3 on the step sequence while Amber earned a level 4 on all of her non-jump elements.
Is a two footed landing an automatic downgrade, I didn't include that when recalculating her score. And there's the double footed landing on the toe loop as well that I didn't include, so her score should have been in the 50's.I don't think the argument is that Mone was scored too low. .No, a two footed landing has never been given an automatic downgrade because it is possible to achieve full or on the quarter rotation and also have a two-foot landing; I don’t understand why this is a difficult concept for some to grasp. Is a two footed landing an automatic downgrade, I didn't include that when recalculating her score. Anyway, if Amber couldn't complete a single clean jump in the short, I think she will fall apart with 7 jumping elements in the free.
I just want some consistency is all. People used to get angry about girls with a perfect triple axel getting +4 (they were perfect triple axels though), but we had +3 from one judge for an out of control loop with a two footed landing.
As I demonstrated with photographic irrefutable evidence, the triple axel should have got a q then was completely out of control on the exit so big minus GOE on the cheated jump, then the flip was a clear underrotation as well which they completely missed. No, a two footed landing has never been given an automatic downgrade because it is possible to achieve full or on the quarter rotation and also have a two-foot landing; I don’t understand why this is a difficult concept for some to grasp.
Well, you must not be able to count because she completed 2 clean jumps out of 4 in the SP with the 3Axel and the 3flip.
Who are these mysterious “people” you speak of? If a skater executes a perfect jump, he/she deserves +4. You’re arguing non-stop over one judge’s mark and coming across as ridiculous.
Speaking of one judges mark, how about that Judge #7 gave Higuchi 0.50 for skating skills. No just holding the officials to account to ensure a competition free from corruption and bias.Amber must be doing something right because she sure seems to have a lot of haterz.![]()
They only gave her one q for three jump elements. Some of the comments in this thread are comical. Let's get this out of the way, I'm not into women's skating. I usually just watch Sakamoto but I happened to watch Higuchi this time for the heck of it. ( Higuchi's high-octane step sequence was excellent.) That aside, it stands to reason, I don't give a hoot about Amber Glenn's skating. What I do give a hoot about are people endlessly drumming up conspiracy theories to destroy a sport. So without further adieu, let's get on with it:
Starting with the 3A, yes, I agree with Mark Hanretty, "She still managed to come good with the 3A. Nailed." But after completion, she slipped. That is when on replay Mark asked, "Is this where she hurt her back?" (Or are some people hearing-impaired and don't know she hurt her back out on the ice?) And no one did her any favors here, they gave her 0.00 GOE. Yes, zero. BV is 8.00 on a 3A which is significantly higher than the BV on a 2A at 3.30. The rest of the field all did 2As. That BV will jack her up 4.70 points, even with 0.00 GOE.
Moving on, she 2-footed the second jump of her combo 3F+3T. Here's what's interesting about this, at first they gave her - 0.71 GOE on screen but that was before the more extensive review takes place after a skater is done. Both Ted and Mark commenting knew she was on the q, and it was still showing as okay while they were commenting. But the review was not complete yet and after it was, the score was duly adjusted downward from -0.71 GOE to - 1.74 with a q call as both Ted and Mark mentioned it should be, on air. Again, I see no problem here, if anything it shows the judges doing their job.
And finally, the 3Lo had a touch-down with the foot giving her a GOE of - 0.07.
There was no positive GOE given for any jump, so no claim of "clean" jumps can be called here. And the claim that she was "overscored" is not only comical, but deletrious to the sport as a whole by intentionally sowing doubt regarding judging. No, she was not overscored. If you don't like the outcome, watch a different sport.
You know the argument these people will make: The tech panel said it was good so the scoring is right, no matter what your eyes tell you. Or the announcer said so. Saying that US number one got preferential scoring is hardly outrageous. I don't know why that bothers people so much. Just like Kaori gets preferential scoring as well for being the current ISU chosen one and Japan #1. To me, Amber should be 2nd and Kaori last. It wouldn't take very many points difference for that, so I think thats a reasonable opinion. They only gave her one q for three jump elements.
As I have shown with photographic proof, the 3A was on the q and had that awful exit where she barely held her balance so should be -3 or so. The loop had two feet touching the ice, the 3F was a clear underrotation, and the 3T had two feet on the ice.
So overscored by at a minimum of 6 points.
We do indeed know the "argument" that "these people" are going to make after every competition, no matter the outcome. We also know (in advance) what "incontrovertible, indisputable photographic evidence" will be supplied. It gets tiresome, frankly. You know the argument these people will make:

What gets tiresome is that people know that the scoring is biased and political, and just accept it because we can't do anything to make it fair. One of the good things about this blog is it gives fans a chance to voice their opinion on who actually deserved to win and why, to at least honor the best performances in a public forum. I understand there will be people biased toward their favorites, but usually you can use you own eyes and rely on your own integrity to determine if they have a good point or not. Now if that is too bothersome for you, thats fine, just skip it and move to the next comment. I think we can both agree that regardless of the judging, we hope we get to see some more relaxed, better skating tomorrow. We do indeed know the "argument" that "these people" are going to make after every competition, no matter the outcome. Anyway. on tp the LP.![]()
Amber is also special, and so sweet.Kaori is special, but i think Amber has a spot in my heart
