I pray I can watch some sort of International feed as I can't go this year and I can't stand Tara and Johnny.Thank you Mark for pointing out in the real world, Amber and Kaori are still young lol. I’m not looking forward to US Nationals going on about how Amber “would be the oldest American woman at the bla bla in 100 years” ot whatever even if it’s a fact it’s got this weird tone to it sometimes
It would be fabulous. Sorry...I read that as Ted Barton...never mind...Can you imagine what watching figure skating would be like if Tim Burton was running the show...?

I feel the need to repost the evidence. Maybe I use AI and these images aren't realNo. You did not. Skating isn't scored as you fantasize. Or with the help of imaginary elves.
?
Do you know if it will be streaming? Also there’s a great documentary coming out soon called Disco’s Revenge which I recommendit gave me a whole new perspective on one song that’s particularly popular in ice dance this year…
How do we know? These are athletes in a very competitive sport. The odds are that a fair amount of them are probably jerks for all we know. Lol I think its best for us and them to keep our comments centered on their skating ability and performance instead of our assumptions about their personal lives and personality.Amber is also special, and so sweet.
It should be eventually, the question is what service ends up with it. (One of my seasonal gigs is working a documentary film festival, so I saw it as part of that.)Do you know if it will be streaming?
Still wishing someone would invent an audio option for tv/streaming where you can choose to turn off the commentator audio but still hear the audio of the competition without commentators. Wished for this as a tennis fan, originally.I pray I can watch some sort of International feed as I can't go this year and I can't stand Tara and Johnny.

The only evidence used in FS scores are what judges use in the venue to watch the skaters. This is not a difficult concept to grasp.I feel the need to repost the evidence.

For all you know, moonvine may have had an encounter meeting Amber in person and they had a sweet interaction. It’s very interesting that when someone says something positive about Amber, it triggers you to post something negative about her, even insinuating that she could be a jerk. And who are you to tell posters on this forum what they should and should not comment on?Can you read my friend? I didn't say anything negative about Amber. As a matter of fact the whole point of my comment was that we should refrain from making personal comments about the skaters and stick to skating issues. If she personally knows her, thats great. I asked how we knew, didn't I? I don't dislike Amber at all. She's been around along time, and with that 3A she has, I think she is US #1 right now. So I suggest you pay more attention when you read something and feel free to ask me if you need anything more explained to you.Are you okay? For all you know, moonvine may have had an encounter meeting Amber in person and they had a sweet interaction. What is it to you if @moonvine or anyone else likes to see Amber - or anyone else - that way as a good person? Who does it hurt to think this unless given evidence otherwise? (Mods, would I be bad for also asking who did something unmentionable in his cornflakes?)How do we know? These are athletes in a very competitive sport. They are perfectly welcome to think anyway they want. I was just making a suggestion that it would be better in the context of this blog to think of these skaters as athletes and not your personal friends. That way if someone makes a perfectly reasonable criticism of some aspect of a skaters performance, they don't have to endure irrational attacks from someone who is mad because you insulted their dear friend. Doesn't that seem like a reasonable way to approach a sports blog too you? What is it to you if @moonvine or anyone else likes to see Amber - or anyone else - that way as a good person? You're effectively arguing that in tennis the linesperson is always right and Hawkeye shouldn't be trustedThe only evidence used in FS scores are what judges use in the venue to watch the skaters. This is not a difficult concept to grasp.

You're effectively arguing
No one needs a personal relationship to believe, with justification, that a more public figure is both special and sweet - the man I just watched is undeniably both and an extremely good man in the bargain, proof of which I am not going to derail this thread with but he's not the only one. Amber gives many people here a huge amount of pleasure and if they feel a parasocial relationship - or just plain deep admiration and affection for her, that's all to the good. They are perfectly welcome to think anyway they want. Good god no, why would anyone ask me of all GSers that? Might as well write dry official reports on little tickytacky robots boingyboinging around a rink. The skaters are human, they touch hearts as well as minds, that's why we have fan fests for those we love, and I for one like it that way.Doesn't that seem like a reasonable way to approach a sports blog too you?
Thats true, I agree with that. There are a lot of positive aspects to personalizing the sport. But at least lets try not to take things personally when our favorite's skating performance gets criticism on a thread about a particular competition. Along with nationalism, taking things too personally is one if the biggest problems on this blog.Having just spent nearly 3 hours watching pure magic I am too happy to be as snarky as I absolutely ought to but..,

To me, it is not "taking things personally" that is off-putting.But at least lets try not to take things personally when our favorite's skating performance gets criticism on a thread about a particular competition. I think I can agree to that. Its not the skater's fault what their Fed or the judges do. I think the best way is to state what you may disagree with on the scoring and state your reasons why. But I also don't think it's fair to automatically discount people's concerns about scoring either. Not in a sport with the long history of scoring issues and politics that figure skating has. But this also isn't golf, so no one is expected to say I didn't deserve that score either. LolTo me, it is not "taking things personally" that is off-putting.
Posts that seem to have no other purpose than to belittle a skater's accomplishments, posts along the lines of, "she didn't earn or deserve her scores" -- to me, why not just think that thought silently instead of going off into hurtful and ill-tempered rants that make it seem like the poster has his/her own agenda. possibly extending beyond figure skating?
