2024-25 US Women's Figure Skating

You'd have to have a screw loose to be a fan of Amber?? What an absolute horrible take. Actually all your views are disgusting to the women. What a hateful person you are.

I'm a fan of Amber. Also, I sort of agree – lovingly – that you have to have a screw loose to be a fan of her. 😂

That is, in the sense that you never know what you're going to get from her. It's pure anxiety, with a chance of being thrilled.

Anyway, at her best, she's the top American woman. Hands down. And also arguably the world's top non-Russian international senior, unless you still want to argue for Kaori. Again, when Amber is at her best.

I don't know what USFS is doing throwing so much of its support behind Alysa, which international judges must be taking note of as we head into the Olympic season. Does USFS not realize that Amber is the only skater they have who has a shot at beating Adeliya in Milan? It would probably require a second 3A in her FS, and it would require just about everything to go right – and for Adeliya to crack a bit under pressure – but it's at least possible.

The only way Alysa is winning is with judging even more generous (some would say corrupt) than what we saw in Boston, if that's even possible. If that's what USFS is counting on...what an embarrassing strategy, especially when you have a skater like Amber who at least has a shot at winning on her own merit.

Alysa is reliable and sometimes Amber is not simple as that. Be honest who would you trust to skate well when everything is on the line.

I like them both and think that they both have a decent shot in Milan. Alysa is very strong technically and may add the 3A or even a quad, but I certainly wouldn't count Amber out to be a podium contender as well.

I was (still am) a great admirer of Sasha Cohen's skating. So, I can understand the Amber love.

Her fans know... they just KNOW... the greatest, most iconic, emotionally wrenching, technically pristine programs are right around the corner, and she's going to deliver them back-to-back. Because this time... at LONG LAST... she's going to control the nerves and defeat the inner demons and yada-yada-yada.

And, who knows? Maybe they're right.

Any updates on Ava Marie Ziegler? I don't even know where she trains. Just watched her 2023 NHK Trophy winning free skate. 74+ in tech score! If she's on, she can get higher tech score than isabaeu (although I don't recall isabeau's highest tech score so far)

She trains at the same place as Lindsey Thorngren did, but I think they have/had different coaches. I haven't seen any updates.

I would love it if Amber Glenn returned to her Red Violin program for this Olympic season. It's not just that I don't want to see her do another weepy ballad; I also think she could perform the program really well today!
Red Violin program or the lady gaga "my baby shot me down" program. Either one i'd be happy to see again!

i don't really have many preferences for what i'd like Amber to skate to, although if she stays away from the weepy ballads i'll be happy. i'd definitely welcome another fun SP like heads will roll. i really enjoyed that one.

i hope Alysa keeps her SP!

Isn't it about time for this thread to be closed and the 2025-26 US Women's Figure Skating thread to open?

New season thread is up! The first post is still under construction but I'm working on it!
