Get that bread, my love~

Music: "Resurrection del Angel/Muerte del Angel" - Astor Piazzolla

Red high-collared dress with cutouts, open keyhole back, handkerchief skirt (is that what you call that style? I think it is?), long matching gloves

2A - huge
3Lz
FCCoSp
CCOSp - slightly wonky tilt at first?
3F-3T - also just a tiny bit tilted, clean but a little scarier than usual
STSq - ate and left no crumbs
LSp

Score: 38.01/35.52 - 73.53, into 1st

Clean season opener, I would expect nothing less. This is a very new style for Kaori and I really like the bones of it; choreo has a really nice Spanish flair and I like the little flourishes of her arms and hands. Could use more investment, maybe, but it's also September, haha. I would imagine she'll grow into it a little and project a bit more as the season progresses and I am Seated :p

SP: 61.79 (2nd)

Rinka has been having a tough early season, especially domestically. Her 3A hasn't been at all consistent, and she's also had struggles on her other jumps. The 3+2 was probably a smart choice considering the rotation calls she's been regularly getting on the 3+3. I really like this program for her, she does a good job with both the intensity and lyrical nature of the piece.

Isopod daughter goooo :party2:

Music: Moonlight Sonata

Dress: black handkerchief skirt (I keep saying this, probably incorrectly haha), sparkly purple top, open back

Tech:
3A - two ft., fall, UR
3Lz
CCoSp
3F-2T - it looked like she just didn't have enough speed coming out of the flip to get the triple
FSCoSp
StSq
Uh...CCoSp? Why am I so unsure what her spins were...

Score: 31.27/31.52 - 61.79 into 2nd

Kinda middle-of-the-road for her techwise, about what I'd expect for an early-season comp. Not 100% sure how I feel about this music for her, not a ton of energy yet? But hopeful she'll grow into it a little more.

Unrelated, but I had a dream once that she won Worlds this year. :p

That wasn't a bad skate from a technical standpoint, other than the fall, of course, but I found the program very snoozy (Can we please ban warhorses??). She barely acknowledged the audience. She needs to work on her flexibility too.

Her dress is pretty, but it doesn't seem to fit very well. I also didn't understand the black 'bracelet' on her one wrist.

Tetiana FIRSOVA UKR

Music: I think a version of Lacrymosa from Mozart's Requiem? With electric guitars?

Dress: grey ombre long-sleeve with silver crystals diagonally across bodice & on sleeves, matching gloves

Tech:
3S-2T
3T< (I think?)
FCCoSp
SCoSp - some very unique positions and a really cool knee slide exit
2A
StSq
CCoSp

Score: 20.47/24.01 - 44.48, into 7th

I've never seen Tetiana skate, but she has a nice presence and quality of movement. Her spins and steps are very thoughtfully-placed and well-executed.

She doesn't even have an ISU bio yet :( Can't find any information about her music.

I've never heard of Tatiana, but she was quite pleasant to watch. Good job! :) She seems well rounded, and there were some nice moments in the program. She has a nice, strong landing posture.

I don't usually like grey dresses, but hers was attractive and flattering (other than when she was spinning).

2A
CCoSp? (bit of travel on I-spin)
3Lz
FSSp?
LSp?

SP: 69.13 (2nd) PB

Sarah is a really interesting mix of skating styles, and her speed and attack on all of her jumps is really impressive. I would like a bit more facial engagement, but she skates with great musical phrasing.

Sarah EVERHARDT USA

Name twin! :cheer:

Music: Reel Around the Sun from Lord of the Dance

Dress: dark green, high split collar, mesh sleeves. Very clearly inspired by Irish dance costumes

Tech:
3T-3T - massive
2A
CCoSp - little wobbly at first
3Lz - also huge
LSp
StSq - she has the speed but I'd like to see her sell it a bit more? It doesn't have quite the Irish dance flair that I would hope
Skipped a spin somewhere?

Score: 37.07/32.06 - 69.13, into 2nd

Dang, girl!

She had this one really cool heel-step transition between her 3Lz and LSp that I had to note even though it wasn't an element haha. Super solid skate, I am very proud of myself for continuing to bet on this being Her Season :))

Very solid skate - Well done, Sarah! :) I like Riverdance as much as the next person, but she really did not listen to the music, especially in the first half. She skated right through the accents. She did better in the fast portion, starting with the well-timed final jump, but her musicality and performance skills need further development. Conversely, she is very technically proficient.
