I feel like it’s the best singles event I’ve ever seen at Cup of China, which Jackie Wong nicknamed Cup of Disaster due to its history of meltdowns.

Poor Nastya, this was a rough skate - it does not help that I do not like this short program at all, the cover is truly horrendous. Nastya does a fine job performing it when the program is clean, but she absolutely checked out here after the opening flip, something that has been a recurring problem for her. I do understand here why she felt that lack of confidence and thus wasn't performing - the lutz was not working in warmup and not getting a combo off on the flip meant she was in a really tight position - but she is throwing away points.
