Hats off for Amber really, just incredible skate under pressure in the FS. Between her and Alysa Liu, the Japanese women may have the skating and the consistency but personally I find myself very invested in both American women's personal stories this season (and seriously - what great stories to have leading into the Olympic season!!! If NBC isn't gearing themselves up to cover them it would be such a bummer). To have a 25-year-old skater not only land her 3A consistently in competitions but also skating the best she's ever skated in her career is a great role model to have in the sport- I remember listening to Mark commentating An Xiangyi yesterday and he mentioned that Nini looked up to Amber as someone who is peaking in terms of performance at what can be called a late bloomer age.

Meanwhile the Japanese women... Mone did amazing of course, very happy for her making the GPF but I am pretty happy with the outings for both Rinka and Rion, they wanted to qualify to GPF and got too nervous and made mistakes, but they both wanted it bad, which bodes great for their future. Rinka getting her 3A back again even if it's kind of under is interesting- I think her 3A is one that people scoff of a lot at her trying for it but it's 2 seasons in a row she has landed it in some capacity now after not really looking like she had it.

Will be keeping an eye on Kimmy for Europeans- great outing here as well for her, her post-injury comeback seems to be paced quite well.

Chaeyeon is basically carrying the entire South Korea singles discipline on her shoulders, it may be better for her not to qualify for GPF now and rest back home, get those local competitions done, and prepare for 4CC and Worlds.

Also I find myself very into Madeline Schizas' performances, some silly mistakes here with the pops but her Danse Macabre FS is getting more and more interesting. Hopefully the programs this season do help her improve her performance quality and the jumps get more consistent.

I agree about Chaeyeon. The Ranking comp is coming up the 28th.....and Nats 4-7th. When I am the head Angel on Earth, I will demand a free and open world wide figure skating channel on YouTube with every major National and International figure skating event in a logical order, left up for a month. Logical leaves out Peacock. Just sayin'. By the way, they restored all my book marks...same T. Rex icon meaning me...but all book marks restored.

Loved seeing Tong Jian coach. Who remembers when Pang and Tong took the Silver at the 2010 Olys?

And before this we saw Li Chengjiang. Anyone remembering him winning 2001 4CC and competing at two Olys? He was a capable jumper.
