2024 Finlandia Trophy Women's Short Program

Rino is so, so good, and I feel like she's been on the senior circuit for so many years despite being just 20 years old. Even her basic stroking is just mesmerizing, those transitions in and out of the 2A are just incredible, and she has some of the best knee bend and skating skills of all of the women right now. Her spins and performance quality is also remarkable - that one-handed biellman is incredible. The 3F mistake will hurt, but she did so well to recover in the second half despite stating how nervous she is, and having Final qualification on the line.

Loved that skate from Rino, the triple flip doesn't exist. The double axel was exquisite, all the way from that lovely entry to the beautiful exit. The knee slide as the music swells is an unexpected choreographic decision, instead of a spiral, and I really liked it. Well done to her for getting the combination done after the fall on the flip. She has such good knees as well, makes everything look so soft.

She was parachuted into seniors for NHK Trophy in the pandemic year when it was Japanese skaters only, but was still mainly a junior then. It makes it seem like she's been in seniors for ages, though.
