2025-26 Grand Prix Final Women's Short Program

I think both Mone and Alysa were helped by the judges. Alysa’s triple loop was clearly underrotated, and Mone’s triple Lutz should have been marked with a “q”. For me, the results should have been: 1) Mone with around 75 points, 2) Ami with the same score, and 3) Alysa with about 72–73 points. Other than that, I think the judging for everything else was fair.

I would have had Alysa win the SP. She attempted some of the most difficult tech content, had the best performance, and some of the better spins of the competition. No the jumps aren't done with the best technique, but she deserves credit for the flow and the difficulty.

Mone Chiba has the best Long Program of the season though, and I'd like to see her win this overall.

Wasn't she just one base point higher than Mone you're talking like Liu jumped a perfect triple axel when she only increased the difficulty by jumping a 3Lo which was a huge underrotation (they didn't call of course so she should have lost about a point plus negative GOE as well).

3Lz+3Lo performed in the second half of the program was the most difficult combo in the entire competition - and it's plainly not given enough credit in the rulebook. Beyond that, she deserved an edge in PCS compared to Chiba, in my book - yet judges gave Chiba almost a point higher in PCS.

On that note, I don't at all see how Sakamoto deserved the highest PCS here.

Kind of overrate Liu PCS, I think both were given marks higher than what they deserved in fact, but Mone has more speed, ice coverage, and more complex steps

FYI, doubled/singled jumps in the SP did receive base value up through 2014, but were given an automatic -3 GOE.

A shame about Kaori and Amber, but better now than at Olys.
Yeah, Amber had one stinker competiton last year at Worlds. Hopefully this is her one bad event and she shines at the Olympics. Kaori, though, seems to have declined a bit and can no longer reliably put out clean programs.

She backloaded her 3-3. The only other one to do that was Kaori. Mone didn't have a perfect triple axel (or any 3-axel) either. They virtually tied.

This program seems jinxed for Kaori.
It's getting really real for the girls - only nationals to go before Olympics and they seem to be realizing it and reacting in various ways - some hesitating, some forcing, some rushing.

Almost there ladies, just keep your eye on getting there and you will be alright

Mone Chiba olympic gold???
Possibly - I am getting Kristi Yamaguchi energy from her. She did not have a 3A like Ito or Harding - but she did have the programs and trusted her training. Could we see a repeat?

Both Ito & Harding missed their ultra-C's (although they were never called that) opening the door for Yamaguchi & Kerrigan
Ito did go on to land her second triple axel late in the free program in an incredibly gusty move.

Tough call. I definitely love Alyssa's program, and Mark and Ted are right - it never loses its impact. However, it didn't have as much transitional content or complexity as some of the other programs. I think part of the impact of her program is the simplicity and sparseness, but I acknowledge it is a bit more empty. However, Chiba was certainly gifted a bit when it comes to getting away with some under rotation calls.

Both Chiba and Liu are the type of jumpers that often look far worse with rotation in slo mo than real speed. Some skaters it is often obvious in regular speed, but these 2 are very deceptive.
