Mazur is a nice skater, but she doesn't have the tension for a tango. Everybody who wants to skate to a tango needs to watch Stolbova/Klimov's Argentine tango. Stolbova embodied the passion and tension of the music.

I'm a little afraid for Yametova at nationals. Her FS last stage was laboured and this combo was very borderline. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

Yametova still looks a bit tentative. But this was much better than last week.

To me this SP is pretty comparable to the last. She UR'd the combo last time and q'd it this time. Almost lost it. The PR was pretty much the same. She looked great in the SP last stage generally. It's the FS in which she seemed like a different skater. It doesn't give confidence for tomorrow. She'll qualify, though.

Gushchina is kind of a Samodelkina but way superior in almost everything.

The short program would really work well internationally.

Gushchina's jumps are to die for. But what was that wonly spin?

Somehow, Gushchina is so good that she is selling this program to me at this point, which I thought was impossible. Still the best 3F in the world. Including men. A skater of her caliber cannot be dropping spins like that.
