2025 Cranberry Cup Junior Women Short Program

Pimmpida LERDPRAIWAN THA 31.77 - into 8th

Music: "Reflection" from Mulan (instrumental)

Tech:
3T (fall)
1A (opened up in the air)
FSSp
2Lo
CCoSp
StSq
LSp (beautiful positions!)

Notes:
It wasn't Pimmpida's day with the jumps, but she's a wonderful spinner. It's been nice to see a few more Thai girls on the circuit in the past few years, so hopefully Pimmpida can continue gaining experience and help to keep that trend going!

Good job Reese!!!
She may squeak in for a JGP spot. She just has to not completely fall apart in the free skate, like she did at Next Gen.
I think they may have assigned Victoria and Ksenia two spots already. Which means, two spots may be up for grabs here.
I don't think Ksenia has two spots safe at all. She's currently assigned to one, but not a second one. And with Vika, we don't even really seem to know if she can compete internationally yet. She's not here and not on the JGP lists so far, so she might not have fulfilled the residency requirement at this point in the season, or she's having other issues keeping her from travelling right now (passport, visa, ...).

Lulu LIN CAN 41.88 - into 8th

Music: "Puttin' on the Ritz"

Tech:
2A (squirrelly landing, but out of nowhere!)
3T (fall)
CCoSp
3Lo<?
LSp
StSq
FSSp

Notes:
Oof. :( Lulu is such a talented skater, but this one was pretty rough. This program is so much fun when she's on, so it's too bad this wasn't one of those days. Still, it's early in the season and I'm pretty confident she'll rebound nicely later on.

Yikes. Maybe, some of these JGP spots will be unused. I feel this way after watching Lulu 😭

Camila Abigail PEREZ TIRADO MEX 28.95 - into 10th

Music: "Danse Macabre" by Camille Saint-Sans

Tech:
2A - maybe <?
2F-2T
LSp
2Lo
FSSp
CCoSp

Notes:
Very nice musicality and speed. With some polish, I think Camila could be a really exciting skater to watch, so I hope to see her on the JGP getting more experience this year!

No, none of the 5 JGP spots will go unused. There are enough talented baby Juniors like Camila, Uxia and Hannah, who could be sent without big expectations due to how young they are. Also, Sandrine and Reese had issues in the Free at NextGen, but were very strong in the Short, so it's worth giving them another chance.

My knowledge of junior girls shot up exponentially when I stopped trying to understand ice dance :laugh2: now I can dedicate all my energy to keeping track of 483 different juniors...
My hat is off to you. I don't even go watch them at Nationals because there are so many and they start at the literal crack of dawn. If one happens to reach out and grab me by the throat I'll follow that one, but there are just way too many.

Teryn KIM USA 45.67 - into 6th

Music: "Beethoven's Five Secrets" by The Piano Guys

Tech:
3F-2T
2Lo (crash landing)
CCoSp
2A
FSSp
StSq
LSp

Notes:
I keep seeing Teryn's name pop up but I can't remember ever seeing her skate. She's quite peasant to watch; could use a little more attack, maybe?

Ziyao WU NZL 38.12 - into 10th

Music: "Arabian Nights" from Aladdin

Tech:
2A< (2ft)
2Lz-2T
FSSp
2Lo
StSq
CCoSp
LSp

Notes:
Oh, this one has spunk! I knew when she synchronized her arm movements to the villain cackle in her music that I was going to have fun with this one. She's so fast and dynamic, with so much personality - she reminds me a lot of Viktoria Kim, actually. I love how much fun she's having with this program, and her spins are stunning!

There's a reason I normally close the YT chat immediately. At least people just have no idea about the scoring system (no, a skater with only doubles is not going to score in the 50s, guys) and aren't being rude to the skaters, but I don't have the patience for that either today.

Adria LILIAC ROM 33.33 - into 11th

Music: "The Final Countdown" by Damned Anthem
Tech:
3Lo (fall)
3S (fall)
CCoSp
2A - huge!
FSSp
StSq
LSp

Notes:
Adria has lovely spins and a great 2A - shame about the other jumps. But I wanted to tell her to pull her shoulders back...:slink: ("Sarah quit being picky about posture" challenge: failed as always.)
