2025 CS Cranberry Cup Senior Women Free Skate

Overall wasn't expecting much from this competition, but seeing this Korean performances i need to watch Chaeyeon Kim again to heal my soul.

After Samo you can see how Levito does not cover nearly as much ice, and less power to her skating. Half the jumping elements had cheated landings but I'd be shocked if they are called.

I feel like Samo took a moral victory at this event, she can really compete with anyone.
I dont agree with the power, Isabeau seems faster, more extension and less empty program. I do agree Sofias jumps should have much better goes.

I guess Josefin has to watch her back in domestic competition, this may be very interesting season.

I'd like to see the podium. Is Isabeau that small? What is she like 5'2? She looks quite normal on the ice honestly I can't tell heights apart between skaters unless its especially jarring.

Samo came off as much more impressive. Levito has so many problems with her jumps that it detracts from the program. Samo has such easy power across the ice it's like she has to hold herself back a little. Samo probably has 15cm height difference as well she's a big powerful athlete. Levito didn't seem to use much of the ice.

This judging was a farce, just as I expected it to be. Levito should not have won this event. Sofia had much better skating skills, musical interpretation, and jump technique. Isabeau’s choreography did not match the music and her expression and interpretation was nonexistent. Sofia was robbed in GOE and PCS, for sure! I’m not a fan of either of Isabeau’s programs this season. 🥱 They don’t make her stand out and they’re both just more of the same that we’ve seen from her for several seasons now.

I am sad to write that the only program I actually liked was Minchae's... Isabeau Levito's Cinema Paradiso was fine, soft and pretty and in her wheelhouse, but mostly one-note and staying firmly in her safe zone. Samodelkina's FS was, hmm, better than what she used to have but the only impressive thing I saw during those four minutes was her jumps and jumps only. I am hoping that either my mind will change or the program will be tweaked for my girl Jia, she is of a calibre to make most choreo shine but in an Olympic season she should have something dazzling and special like her Not About Angels FS... Ugh, this is why I didn't want the season to begin, FS watching is about 5% bliss and 95% pain and disappointment and I am not getting any bliss so far

It's ridiculous how it was scored. She turned up in training clothes in the SP and it didn't affect her PCS although costume is a part of it. She got 3's for her underrotated combo that was almost a downgrade in the short, while Sofia got -1's for what was a q on the combo (it was there). Judge that element properly it would have been -3.5 for Levito so one point difference overall just from that alone, take off some points for turning up in training clothes to a sanctioned event. Then in the free it was so disjointed with all the difficult landings, I'm sure she only got the bare minimum of q's when there were underrotations to be called, and it was an uninspired program. Sure it's early in the season, but Sofia is skating early in the season and she knocked it out of the park. All the jumps looked great, covers a lot of ice, showed plenty of emotion on the ice.

It quite unfortunate she showed up in a poor costume for the SP. I wonder if you can really take off points for that you never know if its the manufacturer's fault for delays maybe she did her best. Anyways definitely some mistakes swept under the rug with Isabeau I agree about that. Will be curious to see the protocols.

I see google says Samo is 1.71. She said 1.70 in an interview last year. Quite impressive. We all know about Memola I wonder who the tallest lady is right now? At the top level I mean. Is there anyone clearly taller than Samo? I dont think anyone in Russia is over 170. I would like to see Gushchina and Samo standing next to each other.

Why don't we focus on celebrating the improvements Sofia has made over the summer and her new ISU PB representing Kazakhstan, rather than moaning about everything....

We need to be vigilant in stamping out referee bias. In other sports they call this kind of bias 'corruption'.

Hmm...interesting. Levito looked very fragile to me. Her Flips and Lutzes are really bad, and the fact that she swapped one Lutz for a Loop is worrying. That means she leaves points on the table, and her technical abilities are on a lower level. Still, she got the scores, but it was purely reputational imo.

Great skate from Samodelkina. That 2A was sooo high, and I suspect she might bring in the 3A later this season? Good that she is not backloading all the combos, she needs room for a plan B. By far, she was much better than Levito imo and should have won this.

Poor Shin. Shaky senior debut with 3 falls. I hope she will do another CS. She needs all the experience she can get. And hopefully, she will get a second GP assignment.
