WAs the loop clean though? It's hard to get good flow. Interesting going back to last year's programs in both sp and fs. I wonder if she will keep the same costumes?

Probably a q to be honest. Looked like a UR live, but in slo mo more like a q. Caller was very lenient on most of the girls.

Did anybody else wonder how Rino scored so low on PCS when she has by far the best skating skills of the competition? Tbh, she got away with some short rotations(like almost everyone today), so Im not arguing her score, just her ridiculous PCS. Her buttery smooth, deep, effortless edges put the rest of these girls to shame.

Rino is the Roger Federer of skating skills. You may overpower her. You may out jump her. But nobody is smoother or more graceful.

Summary after rewatching:

Liu:Had to rewatch it to be perfectly sure what we witness.She is even better than last season,looks like she has more stamina,program was/is/will be amazing and one of the best if not the best,combination super clean.If she somehow adds 3A she gonna eat the competition.

Rinka:Not quite sure about her,but it's like with her.She landed that 3A but it wasn't anything special compared to what we see.Program is excellent,but spins need some work.

Amber:That 3A is really saving her big everytime.Its a nice program for her and she is working well with music which is quite nice to see from her.

Jia:Looking much better compared to France.Finally we could see her levels.Shame on that Flip.It looked like she could end her season with fall into barrier here.Still need to see her finally clean and confident.

Gubanovaislike this and overally nothing expected from her so w/e

Rino:Beautiful Princess.Pleasure to watch her just swim on the ice.Idk how we get 30 PCS for this but judges are judges and we fxxk them everytime
And she can still do better.

Haien:Like the tempo changes in Sirens and her execution on this.Unfortunately doubt there is more she can give to us.

Hana:Amazing stuff when it comes to program + costume and being creative.Superb interpro on music sound with sword and etc.Unfortunately for her we also need some technical elements which see messed up hard starting with that failing of 3A making it 2A.Gonna be hard for her to achieve Olympics.

Special words for two Chinese womens that skate clean.Didnt forced any hard stuff but make it looks pretty good with low scored elements.

As to the SP, Alysa felt obliged to drop her new SP due to the fact that one of the artists in the song is associated with a tragedy, the (almost certain) murder of a 14 year old girl.

Also, remember that Alysa was forced to train and compete last month on broken boots that were barely held together by tape. That, and the tragedy involving the artist attached to the music to her (now scrapped) new SP, surely hampered her ability to train and work on her two new programs at optimum levels.

Obviously, Alysa and her team did not have the time to come up with a brand new SP on such short notice.

Apparently in China, Lady Gaga music streaming is banned in addition to re-working the FS

To be fair, she really did have to ditch that SP as fast as she could, but there was no way she had time for a new one by this point.

However, in the SP, Alysa changed her jump in the 2nd half to a 3Lz3Lo which gave her the point advantage

Alysa gagged me with that 3Lz+3Lo and very heartfelt program.

Rinka Watanabe was great with that 3A, she was reminding me of a more seductive Akiko Suzuki, but as the program went on the music became very frenetic and I don't think she matched it. Of course it's nearly impossible to do that with the footwork sequence rules, but hopefully the presentation will improve and the program can become really special.

Didn't love Amber's program, it needs to be both soulful and hard-edged, skating to that particular Madonna song, and her presentation was mainly superficial smiling when she had facial expression, and the choreography too cheerleader-esque. The way the music changes at the end just doesn't work either. Not a bad start to the season, but this will need refinement.

Loved Alysa’s 3Lz 3Lo

Rinka always wakes up when the GP season starts. I worry about the rest of the jumps, after the 3A. She is similar to Amber. That is why they don’t score as high as Ami. Ami has better technique on the regular triples than these two.

I’m beginning to think that Amber should go for two 3A’s in the free skate. Her 3A’s are so consistent.

Rino don’t get me started on the PCS scores. Why does Jason get such high PCS scores, and Rino just gets forgotten?
