2025 GP Finlandia Trophy Rhythm Dance

What did they say? Where can we watch? Twitter?

"We put in a lot of work since Skate Canada, we felt really good and skating felt also really good today. It is really unfortunate the top athletes in the world are getting level 1s on their pattern step. We are all working really hard but we are made feel a bit like Junior Skaters. I think there is room for the technical to grow. I am proud of everybody here and I hope tomorrow will be better for everyone. We love this sport. I think where our system is right now is at a crossroad, and I think the viewership is also understanding that we're kind of in that situation. Like, they don't know what's happening when they see an exclamation point. What the heck does that even mean, you know? So there's just moments in our sport that we've lost that connection to who's watching and also the connection between who's controlling our fate. And I think that's where this needs to change. The judges should judge what they see, the beauty and the artistry of this sport. So I hope that there's a way that we can move forward and open it up and truly be creative, because I think that's what the fans are wanting. They're wanting to come back and support this sport, but I think if our system is still this way, I don't think we're going to keep bringing in the people, because we're discouraged and the audience is discouraged.”

I’m not a fan of the song either.

I mean I used to like it. I am also too sexy for my shirt. But hearing it múltiple times in one competition is not fun.
In the past few years, I've pretty much lost interest in the Senior GP Series. I now prefer to watch the Junior GP's and the Senior B's. More skaters, and more variety in the skaters.

That’s so interesting. I usually stop watching JGP after the first one. Too many skaters to keep up with. But I did notice while watching Intermediate men this weekend that their song choices were better and more varied.

I get the inkling that rather than judging this panel was about protecting the status quo. Its manipulation like this that will ensure either one of two things happen; two different panels for TES and PCS or they need to tank this sport.

They've seen FBCs RD at least twice, they know that the CHRST are the last element, and they pull this? Because they could get away with it? The panel needs an umpire or working referee. This is crazy. Pechalat should be screaming red platelets round about now.

Shame, shame, shame. They are perpetuating the fallacy that a great team cannot displace the appointed team, completely obliterating a fair competition.

Its just bizarre!
I’m not at all sure that is a fallacy.

There is a referee but I don't know their role

I haven't seen Allison and Saulius this season yet.
They are having their best season ever. They had to qualify their spot for Olympics and have worked so hard. Their dance is fun and challenging. They have medalled with it. Their free is more of a techno dance. Both have been well received on our boards.

Oh, I forgot they were at the Olympic Qualifying Event. I did see them then.

In fact, here is what I wrote about their SD back then:

My memory is going! :drama:

Ouch. I have just gotten up to see this and haven't even looked at the streams yet, but someone is Not Happy With The Judges.

Never would have imagined I would ever see anybody skating to "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred.
I made a joke about it before the start of season, but it's actually been used several times (including by juniors) which leaves me somewhat gobsmacked....

do I understand correctly that the was no broadcast/video of the whole conference unlike it was for Skate America? I am very curious to watch the video

I'd say it's more the tech panel they're upset with.

Can't say I disagree honestly. I'm not against a strict panel, but when the strictness is so inconsistent across events that is an issue. Total scores matter, both in GPF qualification and for GP qualification for next season for lower ranked teams. Plus, there's strict and there's overly strict, which is what this felt more like imo. Like the call for FB/C's choreo steps.

Maybe this tech panel is correct, and the others were wrong?

Maybe the fault lies with the skaters, and not the panel?

Maybe TPTB are subtly dropping the French in anticipation of Gabbi Papadakis' tell-all book-drop on the eve of the European Championships.
Have you watched it?
They called an entire element wrong... Even when the planned content mentions the CHRS being the last element, they called the but of choreography of the beginning as such... So no, it's not like the other TP called it wrong in France.

Maybe the skaters are at fault as you say. Not so sure about that but fair.

So France and ZK are looking grreat. Piper and Paul will nee a miracle to get an olympic medal I wondder if they are to tired and worn. not greeat tech and goes, they had to win R#D and score mid 80s not close and their fdd is old tired unexciting. FG, CB, Guilaume 1111and Laurence and maybe grulp ZK are ahead. d

There is something wrong with either the rules or the way they are applied if all the top teams are getting level 1 90% of the time on their steps when the top specialist in the field is calling it.

Judging aside, I enjoyed Zingas/Kolesnik the most today, they have improved so much. Most programs in RD are a miss for me though, I can't wait for the ISU to stop the silly "dance music of a decade" themes.
