Aurelie's score was raised to 12.066, and if Canada does well on floor (high 38 score or so) they have a shot to make Team Final because France is absolutely melting down (it's been so hard to watch) :(

OK... Seems like the vault and bars really helped Canada.. because so far, they are in 5th place and should be qualified ... YAY !

Daddy Yeo's hot take: there should be three vaults for finals, handspring/roundoff/Tsukahara each

Messrs. Hongchul and announcer need to learn how to pronounce Rebeca Andrade properly, seriously you're going to say her name a lot so do it correctly

I'm currently dying right now (my fencing crush is one match away from his long due individual gold medal) but I need a place to write one of my manifestations, which is RHYS MCCLENAGHAN POMMEL HORSE GOLD MEDALIST PLEASE

Edit: My fencing crush delivered (sob) and now all I need are medals for my beloved gymnasts, Rhys's had better be gold but others I can live with less
We'll have to have a friendly rivalry here - I'm all for Stephen Nedoroscik GOLD on horse. :)

I know pommels are men's beam and anything can happen but I assume that the podium will be a combination of IRL-USA-GBR, we'll see in what order. Also it'd be lovely if Woong gets a good score by the way

The muscles on these gymnasts are extraordinary. Wow. Maybe I just haven't watched gymnastics for a long time. I'd love to know what kind of diet they have to achieve and maintain these builds for many years. Almost no body fat how do they control it for so long? With all this muscle they seem to avoid injury as well. They're incredible.

Oh, you sweet summer child... I wish they did, I really do 🥲
A lot of muscle or no muscle - ACLs tear either way 🫠
Pretty much every meet, a gymnast gets injured mid-competition, either in MAG or WAG. I've seen a lot of ACL and ligament tears, but also injured ankles or feet, broken legs, concussions... Even here, there was a Mexican gymnast who reaggravated an injury and had to be carried off the mat and Elisa Iorio for Italy suffered a sprain during QF and will be out most of the Team Final, and that's just what we know about. Gymnasts are insanely strong and incredible athletes, but they deal with so many injuries, both minor and major. They're just really good at hiding it and acting like everything is fine.
