At just 13, Canadian figure skater Lia Cho already has four international titles and record-breaking domestic scores. With a triple Axel on the horizon and Junior Grand Prix eligibility next season, fans are buzzing about her future.

"My mom told me on my first day of skating that I did my own thing," Cho laughed. "Apparently, I left my group and wandered off to 'explore my own style'. And then I started to stand up by myself with a cone and kind of walked by the end of the session, but not quite skating-wise."

What are your thoughts?

As a Canadian skating fan, I was following her results and was impressed with Lia. However, it's when i saw her compete live at Nationals that I really got hooked :) She's more than a young skater with incredible potential and big tricks for her age. She has something special that draws you in when she's skating, and it's a huge task considering how young and small she is on the big ice. Everyone around me at Nationals were amazed, including Donald Jackson who was there as a special guest.

I have learned my lesson, again, as a skating fan, not to get too excited about very young and talented skaters but it's pretty darn hard to not be enthusiastic about Lia's future.

I think, and I can only speak for myself here, the speculations about the "years" have to do with the simple fact that I am doing the maths to see when she will be able to skate internationally (junior first, then of course, senior)... New age rules have made some of us do that with young prospects.

Thank you for the article : it was a nice read.

Also thank you for the nice article.

I haven't seen Lia skate in person but I agree with 4everchan, Lia is special. I have been surprised at how she is able to (for her young age), emotionally interpret her music.

I am hoping her elements will survive her growth and puberty changes and that she will keep that smile and fierceness. And fingers-crossed, also that her tendons, muscles, joints and epiphyses stay healthy through these upcoming changes. I trust her coaching team will mostly plan for future success and keep her healthy.

I feel @RatedPG may have missed on this article... So talking him (or her... i don't know)

Also, who will adopt Lia ? :) Is she even eligible to be adopted already ?
