Comparing the Rivalries Only

Kimmie versus Caroline. I think this one is in Kimmie's hands to win or lose. With a relatively clean program, even without a triple-triple, Kimmie will get high enough PCss to win. If Kimmie averages 7.25 to Carolines 6.50, that's an extra 9 points

Takahashi versus Oda. I agree with Kwanfordwife. If Oda can just get his head back in the game at Nationals and Worlds, that will be a huge victory all by itself, even if he finishes 30 points behind Daisuke.

Lyascek versus Weir. The quad's the thing. If Evan lands one quad out of two tries, short and long, I think he will prevail.

Lambiel versus Joubert. No prediction. Stephane fell three times at Swiss nationals, then went out the next week and won the GP final. We have seen Brian only once this year, a so-so performance.

Kostner versus Meier. It looks like this is Caroline's year. She should be able to land enough jumps at Europeans to hold off a charge by Meier.

Mao versus Yuna. This rocks! I think Mao is due, after shooting herself in the foot a couple of times lately.

Mao v. YuNa
YuNa. She's simply the better skater in that I think she's just a bit more polished and I think she's got her mentality in check.

Kimmie v. Caroline
Kimmie. There's no way the USFSA will give gold to Caroline yet. It matters not whether Kimmie is actually better.

Carolina v. Sarah
Carolina. How well she's done this season (actually making the GPF) will give her much needed confidence.

Daisuke v. Nobunari
Daisuke. I have no idea what Nobunari's been up to, but it would have to be phenomenal to beat what Takahashi's got this season.

Jeffrey v. Patrick
No idea. I don't understand the politics of the Canadian federation enough to guess. My gut is that they'll stay with their tried and true another year, but if Buttle splatz too much Chan could take the national title.

Evan v. Johnny
There's nothing Johnny can do to win back his national title. Johnny would seriously have to have the skate of his life to get it back.

Brian v. Stephane
Brian. Unfortunately mens skating is dominated more by jumps than artistry.

Evan v. Johnny
There's nothing Johnny can do to win back his national title. Johnny would seriously have to have the skate of his life to get it back.

I think that with a clean sp and fs performances Weir has an opportunity to sneak in, but only if there are mistakes in Lysacek´s sp and fs.

Mao v. YuNa This is tough because they are both so talented. Mao has received her short program "gift" for the year at the GPF. She will have to skate a good short to beat YuNa. Her long program is just incredible. I love them both and can't decide!

Kimmie v. Caroline I am not counting Kimmie out - she is home getting used to her more mature shape and working hard to win Nationals. I am not sold on Caroline's jumps so I am going with Kimmie.

Carolina v. Sarah I would bet on Carolina because of her speed and attack.

Daisuke v. Nobunari Nobunari has already missed much of the season, which puts him at a big disadvantage. Daisuke has great programs this year.

Jeffrey v. Patrick I enjoy them both, but Jeffrey must stand up on his jumps and then he can probably hold off Patrick this year.

Evan v. Johnny Can't wait for Nationals! I love Johnny this year and I have a lot of faith that he will do well. I want them both to focus on skating well instead of defeating the other.

Brian v. Stephane[/I] Poor Brian has been sick and this may affect his season. Stephane has wonderful programs this year and is a true performer. Must stand up on the triple axel!
