Wow...18,000 tickets  That's pretty incredible. What an experience that must be for little Petr and Elizaveta!

The arena is that big? Enough for 18,000 people???

It's part of a 60 000 audience stadium. The football pitch was converted into ice rinks for the winter season, the main rink fills about 1/3 of the stadium at one end and can use about 1/3 of the seats.

I'll be there in 2 hours, my first ice show! :cheer:

ETA: Those of you more familiar with such shows, can you tell me if I will be able to see the warmup if I arrive early? How early?

Oh, I didn't know it would be on so early...darn it. I just saw a few seconds of Misha in slow-mo and the acrobats now. Hope I didn't miss too much...

edit - at least I got to see "Storm." :p:disapp:;)

Crap, I guess I missed everything... :hopelessness:

If you're really keen on watching it, it's going to be repeated:

TVP Sport March 9th 16:15 (Polish time)
TVP1 March 11th 8:50 (Polish time) - only the first half though.

The sound seems to be out of sync...? It was good live, though. But then I haven't seen a million versions of this particular performance. :) I imagine neither did most of the audience. Evgeni was received with huge applause. He IS very charismatic live, no doubt about it. Stephane Lambiel also was very loved, almost as much as Plush. The pair with acrobatic lifts was impressive and the comedic/acrobatic duo were tears-in-my-eyes funny and both conquered the hearts of the audience. Personally I was disappointed with Irina Slutskaya who came across as boring to me, and with Misha Ge who danced too much and skated to little for my taste. All in all it was a good and most people stuck to the very end, clapping and waving.

The main thing that I kept thinking, though? Those programs were all too short! Most of them could be twice as long before I would get bored of them!

Well, the other main impression was that the announcers were running for an Olympic gold in exaggeration, their "OMG this-and-this is SO MAGNIFICENT!!!1!!! the best EVAH!1!!" was beyond the realm of ridiculous, not to mention the mnumber of times they hammered about the "300 years-old Stradivarius" lol. BTW does Edvin Marton play live? Because I couldn't see any microphones whatsover around him.

Thank you for your report. :) I'm jealous... I have seen better version of Storm. I heard the temperature was 0 Celsius.. Is this true?

Probably the announcers wanted to maximalise the number of spectators.. what was succesfull.. There were 20-22 000 spectators..unbelieveable!!!

Edvin use to play live but I don't know in this case..

Yana-Plushy's wife- wrote in autumn will be Snow King show in Poland!!!

I didn't have a thermomter with me but it WAS cold. I wished I had gloves with me and I kept a pillow I had taken for my train ride on my lap to stave off the cold. The announcers demanding applause for the skaters helped though, clapping and standing up occasionally warms you up!

And OMG thank you for the information about the Snow King! I've wanted to go since I heard about the show but I thought my best chance would be Berlin. I'll keep a close eye on the developments because I want to get better seats than I had at KoI. (I can't even imagine how people seating in the upper level of the stadium could see anything )

.

I didn't see Misha's new ex, but that was my impression of him in the 4CC gala. Misha's a good dancer of course, but in an ice show, I think there should be more skating than dancing in one place...just imo.

What did you think about the 12-year-olds Petr and Liza? Were they included in the broadcast?

So there were really 22,000 in the audience? The numbers kept changing....that's fantastic if true. We always hear about skating "dying" except in Japan & Russia, so it's rather surprising (but wonderful!) that it could attract such a large audience in Poland. Wonder if we can ever dream of a show like that in North America again...

Yes, Liza and Petr were amazing.. :D Petr and Liza skated their short programs I think...
Petr SP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAsTrFxcZj0 he skated this program
Liza https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_IBF_jjtLc she skated this program

Yes the number of spectators is amazing. Despite the fact the Polish people hate the Russians because of some historical reasons. This is the power of Evgeni Plushenko's name in Europe. Those 20-22 000 people aren't figure skating fans. There were figure skating fans of, course..who know Lambiel, Slutskaya etc but most of them wanted to see Evgeni Plushenko and his show live.. Plus any ice show was in Poland a long time ago..If I know well..

Right about everything. I think the sold-out show was really due to combination of the power of Plushenko's name and the fact that there's been ages since a high-level ice show in Poland. I'm sure every figure skating fan from the capital was there plus a good number of them from around the country, and probably lots of people came just to seen an ice show, those tickets on the upper level weren't too expensive to satisfy mere curiosity. I'm not good at measuring the amount of people by sight, but logically, I don't think the number could have crossed 20k because to my eyes over 2/3 of the stadium seats were closed off. I still can't figure out why the entire section on one of the shorter ends of the rink wasn't available. It's just my guess though, becuase what was available was jam-packed (and ah, trust me, the anti-Russian attitudes are based 99% on current affairs, not historical ones, but fortunately they don't apply to figure skating). Perhaps they'll release an official box-office number later.

Petr and Liza were both great and the audience was suitably impressed with them. Hey, the kids seemed to have jumped more than the adults, lol. Great connection to music in both.

The next thing they need to get on that show is a car driver who would do stunts in the car. I briefly thought I would see the car spinning on ice when that red Audi appeared, heh. I wonder if such a thing is even possible.
