Good news I found out that Sofia T hasn't skated yet at the Zhiguli competition, she'll be skating in the competition that starts at 3:15pm Moscow time and goes 'til after 5pm. To be honest, Plushenko’s coaching efforts atm brought him to my attention and I had watched some of his old skates. Love them.

as for how certain fans treat Trusova, really shame on them.

I wish them both perseverance and success (and to Plushenko’s other students as well, of course). I think he is looking to work with skaters his own way, and it’s a good thing.

Same here I did watch them and liked them years ago but I was not that turned onto the FS then like I am now. But yes, in spite of all these years his old programs still seem marvellous. Which is a rare bird as many old FS goldies did not age that well taking into account the enormous progress in this sport since then.

I tried to watch a lot of old era figure skating because people rave about it, and Plushenko is about the only one that I can see warranting nostalgia. Between Bielman, 4-3-3 combo and dance step sequences, it was truly out of the box.

@Magill and @lariko - Not gonna lie this makes my Plushy fangirling heart happy

I do love Plushy's programs, they're the only ones where my attention never wanders - my attention span is a short one. They're kinda the standard to which I hold other programs, and to my biased self, there's not many that match up to the charisma and excitement of an old school Plushy program

I'm afraid I haven't heard anything about Sofia M, the entries for the Cups never seem to be confirmed until the last minute so alas we'll need to wait until the end of the week to know!

In other news Sofia T won her event by about 40 points with a lovely FS Plushy wasn't there, but Sofia had support in the form of Sergei Alexseev and her adorable tissue box cover

Also it was Mother's Day in Russia yesterday so:

I was really confused when I saw it. I thought it was always 8th of March in Russia. And in the West, it’s in May... so as always, I put it to the great mysteries of the Russian soul.

Cup’s site has two dates, content filing deadline on the 1st, and the negative COVID test 72 hrs or less prior to start, so my best guess is that the organizers will release the participants’ lists on the 2nd December, as it makes sense with that logistics

The 8th is International Women's Day, which is a holiday over there and is for all women not just mothers. Although I must say I've never noticed Mother's Day in November before!

Well, things are looking quite worrying with the Fifth Stage of the Russian Cup and even the Nationals with so many skaters ill So far the Academy seems to have escaped the worst of it, but I wonder if their luck will last

I hope the Swan Lake show will only go ahead if it's safe to do so. I'd hate to see people get COVID-19 from attending!

Sadly Aliona has tested positive for COVID-19, but fingers and toes crossed it's just a mild case.

I'm worried though, perhaps the Russian figure skating community needs to clamp down? Like keep themselves isolated from other groups for at least a month to stop the spread. It seems pretty unlikely to happen, but it does raise an interesting question, what would the Russian Figure Skating Fed do if all the skaters and coaches took this step? They surely couldn't punish everyone could they?!

I'm also worried about the show, as spectacular as it is, Plushy and co are gonna get slammed if they go ahead! But alas I am but a fan and have no sway. I just really, really hope everyone can stay safe!

Congratulations to Nika! NGL, the first thing I did when I got up this morning was go on YouTube to see how she did.

Wow! Amazing jumps and spins! I was a bit surprised by the stumbles, but she's superfast so maybe that causes it.

I also looked for the video so I could see if Plushy was there (he wasn't for Maxim Avtushenko - the other Angel there) and if so what the mask situation was.
