Evgeni Plushenko

I've seen some of the clips on Instagram. The show is absolutely beautiful and spectacular. I hope one day I can watch his performance in person. Has anyone had the chance to watch Plushy's competition or shows live? Of course right now is not a good time. Does he only perform in Russian in the recent years?

Indeed! It can get nasty out there. A few weeks back I got on a Plushy- defending spree, but alas all I did was make myself look silly. I don't think I changed anyone's minds, at least not those who think the absolute worse of Plushy. Ah well, what can you do?

I agree he shouldn't have said judges were "bribed" at least not in public, but I think he's right to point out dodgy stuff. It's one thing if a judge scores everyone in a competition low (some do!), but when only some are judged more harshly that's unfair.

Hopefully, it'll work out OK! Perhaps if other coaches also joined up...but they probably don't want to rock the boat or get accused of poor sportsmanship.

It is! Sometimes I wonder if Plushy should have dedicated himself to putting on epic shows rather than coaching, although he really seems to love coaching. :) Fingers crossed that the Academy succeeds!

As for where Plushy does shows, Russia and Japan are the main places he goes (he's still the Emperor in Japan :biggrin:), he also used to go shows in Europe, like Art on Ice in Italy as well as his own Kings on Ice in places like Hungary (home of Plushyfan!), Romania etc.

With the coaching he does now, he's cut back on the ice shows sadly :( Corona virus also stopped the summer shows in Japan.

I hope to see him skate in person too! Though I do fear I may be one of those crazy fangirls who screams and faints, that's be so embarassing! :laugh2:

That's right! I know I shouldn't take it too seriously and it's not likely to change anyone's minds, but sometime my blood boils when I see the name calling and can't help myself.

His skating must be even much more impressive in person. I regret that I didn't find chance to watch him when he was still competing. Those time are long gone. I have never been to Russian or Japan, and they're equally far to me. A good excuse to visit these countries when things are back to normal.😄 Fingers crossed! :pray:

It truly does! I was linking all day today and haven't even reached the 2006 Olympics!

I'm greatly assisted by Plushy's official YouTube account which has playlists of just about everything he's done.

The videos are just too fun not to watch sometimes! The excitement, the cheering! Plushy always had the crowd eating out of his hand. :biggrin:

Hello fellow Plushy fans! Hope you're all well!

In honour of my birthday yesterday I made sure to put up Plushy's crowning moment of glory, the Torino Olympics in 2006! Truly epic moments, after the disappointment of having to withdraw from World's 2005 in Moscow (☹️ injuries suck!), I made sure to upload both versions of commentary for his LP (NBC and British Eurosport) so the stark contrast in reactions could be seen. Seriously, the NBC guys were watching something completely different. I'm bothered I can't get the British Eurosport Commentary for Plushy's SP, the Olympic committee blocks it for some reason 😠

Also Plushy's performances at the Olympics Gala, absolute must see!

Meanwhile I'm thoroughly annoyed fellow Plushy fans. I was looking at figure skating stuff this morning and came across this article: https://m.sports.ru/figure-skating/...e-znayut-za-chto-stavyatsya-oczenki-v-f.html?

I was shocked at the part where the judge is shown clear evidence of Anna S's flat edge Lutz and he basically shrugs it off, says it doesn't matter because for some reason the judges probably didn't see it and didn't bother to check.

So like.... basically he said what Plushy suggested that some athletes are getting away with poor technique. I naively thought this would be big news and that Plushy might even get an apology too.

But nope, it hadn't even been posted! I had to do it myself...

But still no backing down! Posters are actually excusing this guy?! Plushy gets continual abuse for bringing up the issue, but those responsible for said issue gets no complaint? I can't even...?

To be honest with you all, I feel like I'm being gaslighted or something. Some posters keep telling I'm imagining things...that Plushy isn't treated any worse than anyone else here, but I don't think so. I can't imagine any other coach in the world who made comments like his and had them later vindicated would still be treated like a poor sportsman. It's nuts!

Like imagine if the roles were reversed? Can you imagine the absolute outrage that would occur if ISU Judge Plushenko said "Eh, it's hard to see edges in real time, we just go with our gut." There's be 1000 page long posts about it! There'd be petitions and calls for him to resign or be banned.

Am I wrong? Am I imagining this?

Now I'm getting into arguments again. 😞 I don't like it, it makes me sad and I feel like a bad person for doing it, I just want to be able to enjoy talking about skating and skaters.

It may not surprise you all, but I'm a worrier by nature and the latest news has left me concerned.

Stasya K has left the Academy stating the same reason Rina Ryabova did, dissatisfaction and discomfort with the changes in the group. I have no idea what that means, but it sounds bad! Is there's something wrong with the way the Academy is being run? Is it going to implode? This is the second skater in as many months! I'm not looking forward to the articles that'll come out :(

I know students leave coaches a lot, but they usually have another coach to go to, Stasya found the situation so bad she just left! What could have gone so horribly wrong between the Swan Lake shows and now?

This is very distressing. :(

Well at least there's some skating to watch, Sofia Muravieva is skating right now. Good luck to her :)
 
Evgheni is still building his academy. He will become the best, I am convinced. Until then, we have to be patient even if Plushy doesn't. He will probably be hit from all sides but he is ambitious, motivated and will succeed. And we, the fans, have to be with him.
