favorite costumes

I really love Mao's new SP costume at 4cc. It's very sophisticated and beautiful both in colors and design. Especially, the cut around the arms is very beautiful. It reminds me both her previous light-blue costume that she wore GP and the one that she wore at JPN Nationals.
Her LP costume is very nice, too. Initially I thought that it's a bit sparkling too much around her neck. I don't like that checker very much. But seen from the distance, it's okay. I like the overall colors and design. It's much more gorgeous and queen-like looking than the previous classy white-black costume which I thought to be princess-looking. I really liked the previous costume, which I thought to suit her innocent, light, peaceful atmosphere, which made her Fantasia Impulso so unique. I had never imagined it can be performed peacefully before Mao.
But because the original character of that music is so passionate and melancholic that I think that the current costume matches the music better. Besides, other skaters are more mature than Mao in their atmosphere so that I think that the change in the costume would help her look more mature.
The only other complaint that I have on that costume is the high-leg cut design. I think it a bad decision. You wouldn't want to do beillman etc with that.

I loved Mao's old dresses and her new ones. They are all very classy and beautiful. Another fav is Bebe's new dark blue LP dress. very elegant and she looks great in it. Evan looks great in both programs, but the LP really matches the music.... he looks just like Mario Cavaradossi!
More favorites are Jeff Buttle's LP outfit, S&S's LP outfits, Tanith and Ben's freedance costumes, Davis and White's Freedance costumes.

Aside from the color of the illusion fabric, her dresses are gorgeous
I still think her best dress is the light pink dress she wore for Nocturne sp last year.
I really loved that dress, too. It was very classy in design and lovely in colors. I think that pink is her color. But it was not a babyish pink, but was an elegant smoky soft pink, and I really loved the delicate gradation to light bluish purple. I also loved the off-shoulder design and delicate decorations that were ladylike, and the long layered skirts which made her look like a fairy.
I also like Jeff's LP costume for 4CC. He looks very classy in that dark wine color. That reminded me of his Olympic costume
I also like Rochette's LP costume. She looks very beautiful in bluish purple. I think she looks very pretty in deep, strong colors, especially in blueish ones.

Johnny's SP-costume - love it, not over the top, has got style, character, just amazing. And it is still a typical Johnny-costume ("sparkly catsuit" he called it in his journal). :thumbsup:
I also love Stéphane's costume for the long, rather simple but great for the program.
For the ladies - Elene Gedevanishvili. Love her non-girly, non-pastell but glamorous dresses, they suit her so well - she is no little fragile girl, even in Torino she looked very self-confident, sophisticated, more sassy than shy.
Regarding costumes - I just rewatched Ilia Kulik's olympic long program, and I had totally forgotten how horrible that costume is. Disturbing! I couldn't concentrate on the performance!
I consider myself very tolerant concerning costumes - there are even moments when I can convince myself that Stéphane's four seasons costume is very artistic and avantgarde. I think that Johnny's swan costume is a piece of art and don't feel absolutely disgusted by KVD Perren's LP-costume this year (because he can pull it off) - but Kulik's costume back than - scary. So distracting!

I also absolutely love Johnny's costumes, especially SP. It's very pretty. It reminds me of cristal. He has his own style.
I wonder what Kulik's olympic LP costume was supposed to be. What does it symbolize? What music was he skating to?
I know Stephane got a strange image that inspired him to wear that costume. But it was very well intended.
But I don't see Kulik a person who has that kind of strong artistic(?!) inspiration about his own style. Tarasova is supposed to be an artistic coach. What has gotten into her?
I really liked Yuna's new LP costume. It had a very delicate design. I liked the sophisticated details especially around her skirt. I really liked these deep, soft, autumn colors on her. Since she is very skinny, I think it nice to have a little bit fluffy design like this that is not too tight fitting. I don't think that this costume was the best fit to her LP music that was rather dynamic. But it suited so well with Yuna's skin tone and bodily line.

For the men, no surprises that I love Daisuke's SP and exhibition costumes - sleek, edgy and completely hot. Apparently he prefers the black outfits himself.
For the women, I think Joannie Rochette's costumes are stunning, and highlight her great back. Yukari Nakano's FP costume is also beautiful.

On the other hand, I find Stephane's costumes, with their explosion of contrasting patterns and clashing colours a little harsh on the eye at times (and completely at odds with his lyrical skating). Yuna's dark pink and gold costume also didn't do a great deal for her, IMHO.
I loved Yukari's flowers at her hair here. It was extremely beautiful as well as stylish.
I also loved Caro's pants style. Black pants are risky to wear because they could look like a practice outfit. With the great designer and her long legs, it was absolutely cool.

I loved Mao's and Yu-na's dresses for worlds. Athough mao obviously copied mao's LP dress (or vica versa) they were both beautiful and much better than eariler in the season. Yu-na especially had very poor dresses for the GP.
Joannie's dresses are also beautiful as are Stephane's LP outfit, Belbin and Agosto's freedance outfits, S&S freeskate outfits, Dube and Davidson's costumes for both programs, virtue and moir's freddance (finally they got it right) and Bebe's dresses for both programs.

I also like long skirts not necessarily because they cover more but because they look more elegant to me. So I liked mao's last year's SP dress (the soft pink one) and the new LP dress. I also liked Yukari's last year's LP dress, this year's LP, and white gala dress that are absolutely beautiful.
But for Yuna, I would like her to wear longer skirts primarily because it covers more. Yuna is really skinny but many of her costumes have tended to have short skirts, be tightly fit, and have little decorations. I really think that she would look prettier in dresses that cover more, are more loosely fit, and have more volume in material.
I liked her pink pants for gala in that regard. People with normal weight cannot wear pink pants and look slim and stylish. But it was a great choice for her. Her new LP dress was also very nice in that regard.
I am also shocked to see how skinny Mao is whenever she wears her black practice outfit. Somehow her costumes tend to have frills, fluffy decorations, and some volume that create some curves.
