Ice Dancing - Free Dance (Mon. Feb 22 - 16:45)

This German couple is cute but I so wish people would stop skating to Beethoven. Only Yagudin could pull it off. And his costume... no. He serves in the German Army, btw. Amazing that he can skate at this level!

But then it stuck me -- I don't know how tall Peter Carruthers is, but terry Gannon (a former basketball champion) is over six feet. Kristi is barely five feet, but the way they were sitting all three were about the same height. Mysrtery solved. Kristi must have been sitting on a phone book, trying not to fall off.
I think when sitting it has a lot to do with Long Torso v. Short Torso. Gannon would have made a Primier Danseur if he took that route.

Oh my god, a Beethoven MEDLEY. 'Cause one piece of Beethoven just doesn't have the variety and dynamics for this ice dance team's abilities. The hubris is staggering.

Mega Beethoven by the Beiers, although not the most difficult, very enjoyable, can't get more german than that...

I wonder what these wonderful music pieces could have been in the hands of the top tier teams....

2 sloppy lifts for Germans (and one of them was amazing if not for exit), but you can see their progress could be good.

NBC is airing an interview with Michael Phelps, the pothead from the wrong kind of Olympics, in lieu of showing any of the live events happening right now. The IOC should have NBC's Olympics broadcasting rights yanked.

Oh boy it's singalong time! *sings* Mama... oooooh! Didn't mean to make you cry if I'm not back this time tomorrow....

That was a beautiful free dance for Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier.

Totally agree, Robin Cousins said he liked it very much, said he'd been critical of her yesterday as having hunched shoulders but said that this routine suited their style, was strong and elegant.
