Ladies LP - actual competition

Mao's landings bother me for some reason - I think it's a lazy free leg - it just seems so stuck to her landing leg or something! Nice comeback from a popped 3a to do the 2nd one.

She really is something. Popping that first Axel - but just going on and giving it another try. Respect!

Oh oh, perhaps underrotated...

mao not perfect. singled a couple of jumps, no 2 3-axels this time.

she seemed to slow down towards the end and finished behind her music.

no fire or attack...

She went for that triple axel! Kudos to her.
It must be dissappointing for her, but she's always back stronger after a bad event.

Well, Mao popped the 1st 3Axel attempt into a double, I believe. She also doubled the solo 3toe. This was such a disjointed, thrown together performance IMO and after the first miss, she was just making up the program as she skated to redo the 3Axel, which she got on the 2nd try. She kept up the speed and her energy though!

Is Mao lacking confidence or rest or something? She looks ... "off"

Pops first axel into single, and then 3T into 2T. Was she changing her jump lay-out on the fly or something? Very different than planned elements...

Recovering nicely after a potentially shaky start

hugh - skate down ice - no choreography 3 times and then - jump - ok at times - yes 2nd triple A good but hey - you must perform - looked like she was bored - the music was awful

Mao Asada, JPN
only the 3rd most popular skater here, i think, judging from audience

Masquerade Waltz

1a
3a nice
3f-2lo-2lo very nice
3lo good
3f-2lo
2t
2a
last combo spin a bit slowish for her

i think she does a good job at working with the demanding rhythm of this music, in her knees, etc.. getting better in that aspect in the program as a whole... but not looking sharp today, no real spark. It would be nicer to see her skate to something less heavy, though i like that she's trying to stretch with this.

118.66, 176.52 -- 1st

Joannie's landing all her jumps so far, but somehow a bit tight on all the landings so far, and not the usual height.

Awesome save from Joannie on the sequence - still getting the 3S in. Good skate. A bit tight but good nonetheless. A few bobbles - the extra step in the series, the singled axel in that sequence but should go into 1st.
