72.62 -- 121.00 -- 7th place

I think Rachel needs a more upbeat piece. The current FS I don't think shows her off at her best.

Go Flattomatic

not so much
blue dress - does nothing for her
jumps ok othe than popped 3s into 2 s slow skater - spins were slow as was spiral sequence - thought that step sequence went well to music - flutznalthough her last spin went in two directions

Well, Flatt had some traveling violations on her spins and she needs major improvement in her expression/performance execution and interpretation, but her speed appeared a little better today to me, or it may be the poor quality of justin.tv playing with my eyes. Anyway, as usual, she got the job done on the jumps. Rachael into the lead!

BTW, it's so difficult to determine UR jumps by watching justin.tv. I wish the quality could be better, but it's better than having nothing to watch. :)

Rachael Flatt, USA

La Mer, Debussy

2a good
3f-2t
3lz (i thought flip)
3f-2lo
spins slow
2s
3lo good
3flutz-2t-2lo
spin in 2 directions

program a bit boring, yet i find her very watchable and think she has loads of potential... there is a certain spark there. I really prefer her to Czisny for this aspect. She obviously needs lots or work on certain things, but I like her.
Couldn't distinguish any of her lutzes from her flips though

107.39 -- 162.82 -- 1st

Wow, this is a really badly choreographed program for Rachael. It starts off with some attack and excitement (though no 3-3), and then the whole middle section was slow spins and spiral sequence, and all the excitement fizzes out. And that initial sense of attack really never comes back again, even though she lands some more jumps (the 2S doesn't help). Then a really screwed up camel in the opposite direction before the final spin. I think Rachael needs to work on her spins and spirals. With these long, complicated spins required by CoP, she can't sustain a LP with continual excitement with only just jumps.

She beats Alissa though, with less technical content than at National's! I think all that favoritism at National's is being exposed right here.

I have to agree. It's obvious to me that the music is dragging her through the program.
