People finish school at 16-17 in Russia. She is not a teenager. Alina is but she acts much more maturely

12 is not a teenager. It is twelve, not twelveteen. Eightteen is a teenager. Eteri is 44, which is old enough not to act like a teenager.

Alina acts very mature for her age, that's true, but it's also irrelevant, since we're discussing the dynamic between Zhenya and Eteri, not how Alina handles things like Ashley Wagner's post-Olympic tweet.

Eteri just gave an exclusive interview to the Russian TV where she stated that Medvedeva stopped replying to her messages since the mid April. Also she mentioned that Medvedeva said to her leaving the ice at the OG: Couldn't you just keep Alina at Juniors for just one more year? To which Eteri replied: What is wrong with you? We should give a chance to everyone, we cannot keep anyone from getting (what they can achieve).
Eteri also was quite upset that Brian Orser did not cheer on Trusova's quads and acknowledge her success (according to what Eteri felt reading his words from icenetwork article) and she felt that it was a challenge for her from Orser. I guess that now she aims to keep Trusova quads into Seniors and probs beat Medvedeva-Orser team with those.
I'd say she is VERY upset.

Lol no. Alina had beaten her already at that point, so no comment of Evgenia could have eliminated her as competition. If she really said something like that, which I honestly don’t believe, i assume it was something like “dang, I lost, why the heck couldn’t Alina have stayed in junior for one more year” - which said literally 2 seconds after losing makes perfect sense. She still was graceful with Alina and praised her hard work, the two of them seemed more than fine with each other in japan. So yeah.

BTW, Alina didn't snatch the OGM away from anybody. That medal wasn't Evgenia's -or anyone's- to begin with.

I've definitely said hurtful things before and I understand that Evgenia is human too. I'm not hating on her, I have a problem with people making excuses for her. If she indeed said that, she should apologize.

Do you really think that’s impulsive? An offhand comment after losing when you’ve dedicated your entire life to reach a goal? If she publically threw a tantrum or spit in an opponents face, yup that would be unacceptable. But this is like someone saying privately to their coach, “I wish Medvedeva would just retire already. Or why couldn’t kaetlyn osmand have stayed injured!” Maybe not nice things to think or say, but these are private things said by people who want to succeed. It was never meant to be public. Eteri is responsible for making this known. If it even happened at all.

Yeah this is another low post. Because it has nothing to do with Med vs Eteri at this point. Why would people care about whatever happened that doesn’t relate to this topic?

What disappoints me the most, is that Eteri manipulates the parents of the children too, so that they don't go to the trainings and don't realize what is happening there inside. In interviews with Evgenia's mom, she reveals that Eteri demands that parents not put their noses in the training, and that there is full confidence in her daughter's coach. I think Mrs. Jeanne must be totally shocked by this absurd Eteri action.


Evgenia and her mother are on vacation, and knowing their personalities, they obviously wanted to do everything correctly, leave flowers, give thanks. And now, Eteri ruined any possibility of courtesy.
I want Zhenya to be happy in a friendly environment, with personalized training in Canada.


Polina at this moment must be scared. I hope she goes quietly to CSKA and forget all this situation.

Polina has health issues. Her genetic illness + her injuries since 2016 Junior worlds have basically killed her chances to make a big entrance in senior ranks. She could have been a threat for Medvedeva too since she was winning everything and beating all records before her injuries.
I don't see why Eteri would want to make her life difficult since she was already a skater who was regressing and was not winning titles.

Because she has powerful connections. She can make it hard for her to find new coaches or get resources for training. And she can try to influence judges to downgrade her scores. Politics is important to an athletes success unfortunately and seems that Eteri has the political influence at the moment. Although I imagine rusfed is not happy with her current outburst.
