Medvedeva leaving Eteri

The truth is that the situation is surely a heartbreak for both parts, but each other handle that in different ways. To split after so much years.....
Why not simply handle that like Radionova and Goncharenko?

Ugh, what leaves a bad taste in my mouth is that Eteri said that for the whole world to hear, she shouldn't be talking about childishness while taking that sort of an approach. I imagine that what Zhenia said (if indeed true) was as a part of a private conversation, in confidence, why broadcast it for everyone to hear? I myself have had occasions where I made some nasty comments about others to friends, but they knew I was having an ugly moment, that this wasn't the usual me, and silently supported me in my moment of childish bitterness outburst. They didn't go out and talk about these things to everyone.

I hate when this sort of "drama" happens and suddenly personal secrets and conversations begin to be thrown around. If Evgenia did say something like that, it was said in private. In that, especially being someone much older and "wiser", Eteri behaved in much more immature and childish manner. She has the right to feel hurt, but there's no reason to behave like this.

These dramas are just tiring

So Eteri can't be heartbroken while Evgenia can? That's double standarts
You want to compare what has secretly said a crying girl the exactly moment has losing the dream/competition of its life, versus all the **** has coldly trow an over 40 years old teacher on tv over hers student, for something not even happen that day ? Please, come me on...

Huh? This woman has been the top coach for ladies in the most competitive federation, which includes a lot of TV/interviews since Sochi; she has plenty of experience dealing with the media and giving interviews.

There weren't a lot of them. Moreover she was considered as unapproachable recently by journalits and she usually refused any interviews.

This is what I don't understand. I understand why Med would leave Eteri but I'm very puzzled as to why Brian would want to take on all that drama. It certainly has the potential to become a major distraction and energy drain for him--an energy drain that could negatively impact his other students.

Despite the off ice drama with her federation, Med comes across as a very hard worker who is very coachable on the ice with a reputation for getting along well with other skaters and not needing to be a drama diva. While it's ugly in the media right now, give it a month and the broader sporting world will move on to the next kerfluffle, the nuttier skating fans will decide which other dance pairing is hiding secret love children in the attic and life and sport will move on.

Someone insulted their own intelligence by believing some words from one side without direct footage.

Tars hates Zhenya so he behaves like that, haters dont think just hate and are happy when they write something bad about their target. Poor Medvedeva is now their target. I cant believe Eteri did what she did. I am worried Zhenya is finished in Russia

She has never been good at giving interviews, but no journalist tricked her into going on national television.

Eteri has enough media experience. She didn't just fall off the turnip truck yesterday. She's done major press conferences, interviews for documentaries...come on! Anyway, that infamous interview was not so long ago and she clearly has no interest in changing her attitude. She is who she is, take it or leave it. So it's hardly surprising that most will leave, eventually.

The same thing happened to Orser. How did he react?

Took the high road - something that Eteri can't make herself do. I laugh at how she was all "no comments" and less than 24 hours later, just couldn't help herself. She is so spiteful!

People using Eteri's smear campaign to "validate" their hate for Evgenia- absolutely embarrassing and pathetic.

RusFed also knows that if healthy (which she's more likely to be under Orser) Zhenya could be a champ for many years. Do any other girls have that guarantee? I don't know if they'll be so kind to her, but screwing her over too soon could screw them over in the long run.

How is Brian "taking on all that drama" - he just has to train Evgenia. Eteri is on the other side of the world and I doubt Brian pays attention to Russian media. Just because a certain segment of skating fans are losing their minds during the boring off season doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. What is the big deal? How could it be worse than dealing with the most obsessed Hanyu or Yuna fans?

If he takes on Zhenya, he would land right in the middle of of these dramas. After Vancouver, he was in exactly same spot as Eteri. Unanswered called from Yuna's team, kept hanging for the next season preparation and war of words between them. He grilled Yuna and her mom pretty bad back then. One time I find Orser being very unprofessional. Hurting and all, he should have known better. So yeah if he did have a talk with Zhenya during a previous few weeks, he turns up to be a big hypocrite in a way.

Eteri spent 11 years of her life coaching Evgenia and now this girl whom she made a figure skater superstar left her. She can be heartbroken. It's not a medal it's smth more...
So I dont agree with you

lol using Eteri´s propaganda for you hate for zhenya, it shows what for a person you truly are.
Average person, who were in sports at lower level, who got angry too many times in a heat of the game, into fights even, with big mouth towards opponents and sometimes teammates (unfortunately), but always face to face and never using dirty tricks to eliminate opponents from participating. :noshake:

But the thing is Eteri has known for weeks. Her team and her daughter have been deleting pictures with Zhenya, and the director of Sambo also knew this. Her narrative that she had no idea just isn’t true.

Being a professional means you don’t go off on national tivi and talk bad about your former students without evidence like records or video footage.
Stay at home and cry to yourself, it’s normal.

I do feel a bit sorry for her in the sense that she probably feels like she's being used: she makes the skaters champions and then they run away. But she's a coach, that's her job, and there's definitely something there in her approach that makes skaters leave and soon as they feel like they have a choice and don't need to put up with her. It's very difficult to put a mirror in front of yourself and look at your flaws (and then do something about them!), but she needs to do that ASAP. There can only be so many times when something is "not your fault". I hope she does manage to somehow come around and change her tactics, because whatever she's doing training-wise is certainly working!

No, that is not at all what I said. Realistically, if Evgenia were operating on the assumption that she couldn't even make the top three in Russia in 2022, then she would not have much of a shot at being top 3 worldwide, because there are countries other than Russia that also have a lot of talent.
That makes no sense. You first say that if she can't make the Russian team, she cannot win a medal, as if the Russians are already guaranteed a gold due to their deep talent pool, and then you say that if she can't "even" make the Russian team, she cannot win a medal because other countries have talent, as if Russia is suddenly at the bottom of the talent pool. Which is it? Is Russia so good that if you can't make their team, then you can't win the gold, or is Russia so pitiful that if you can't even make their team, you cannot win a gold?

I say that if you make it to the games, you can win a gold.

There's a difference between heat of the moment stepping off the ice after competing and giving a calculated interview, like someone else said - yesterday (or 2 days ago, depending on timing) Eteri had no comment and now she gives an interview for TV? This interview doesn't come off as a heat of the moment reaction but a calculated move.
