ISU:
• Skating Skills which is the overall quality of the skating ability (e.g. balance, cleanness and sureness, flow, edges, multi directional skating, power)
• Transitions which is the variety, difficulty and purposeful use of intricate footwork, positions, movements and holds that link all elements.
• Performance is the physical and emotional involvement of the skater/couple as they deliver the intent of the music and composition (e.g. carriage, style, personality, variety, contrasts, projection).
• Composition is an intentionally developed and/or original arrangement of all types of movements according to the principles of musical phrase, space, pattern, and structure (e.g. idea, concept, unity, pattern, phrasing, originality, design)
• Interpretation of the Music /Timing (for Ice Dance) it is the personal, creative, and genuine translation of the rhythm, character and content of music to movement on ice.
All that has to be demonstrated mainly in the stsq, have you seen the Rocker, Mohawk, Choctaw she uses? its deep and clear edges in the stsq, the sureness with which she flows and change edge while she transits between the previous steps of its sequence to the next tech. element?
I see good SS according to what the ISU dictates.
And curiously I also see that it fulfills all the other requirements for PCs in a large margin. We are not saying that she is perfect, because she is not. But it meets most of the requirements, because her program was thus packaged: clear edges in the stsq, good flow and speed and multidirectional skating(especially in the 2016-2017 season), 11 difficult turns required with changes of edges. And she does all of that using her entire upper body while skating on one foot, and she has almost no crossovers.I think that in her FS of 2017 you can appreciate all these good qualities. And best of all, she can improve by recovering from her injury and getting a better program.
Explain why Carolina gets lower SS than her. Fyi, I did not say Zhenya's SS is bad.
