Men FS

I don't think it's overrated, if anything CoP has diminished its importance, a quad it's not THAT much points over a 3a.
I was kidding about manliness, etc. But the way in which the CoP rewards the quad is that it allows you to do as many triples as you want without running into Zayak problems.

As ChuckM and Slutskayafan are discussing, if Johnny had a quad then he would have many options about how to arrange the rest of his program to score points.

(Still, a truly grand triple Axel, like Ilia Kulik's, or Todd Eldredge's -- or for that matter, Johnny Weir's -- is a thing of beauty. )

let's take a deep breath and step back.

Mathman wasn't the one who proposed said manliness... he was playing off of it since it's pretty much taken over this thread.

BREATHE.

what we should get upset about MM's post is this

Leaving out Kurt's 3Axel is just bad manners ;)

You debaters are forgetting that High Level Jumps scores transfer into High Level PCS scores. Johnny's beautiful 3A and Stephane's beautiful quad.

I dont believe this is true. Lysacek is getting the same PCS he got before his quad, and many others do as well. I think people believe since they look for a reason to justify Plushenko and Joubert's PCS. The fact of the matter is the skating of these two is just more popular with judges then fans and always has been. It has nothing to do with their ability to do quads so well, why they also get such high PCS. If that was the case the Chinese men in the early years of COP would not get high-5s for PCS for landing quads.

I didn't say Quad. I said Beautiful Quad. There is an esthetic difference which I believe shows up in the PCS scores.

I don't quite know how to say this, BUT....I have inappropriate feelings for Lambiel :love::laugh:

Ok, so he is not a Prince but a KING, not a man but a GOD, not ....ok, i'll stop. I do wish I could see this program clean (the LP), cuz it really is something amazing....of course, IMO.

anybody know what levels he gets for his step sequences and spins? thanks.

Almost all the top guys get level 4s on the spins and level 3s on the step sequences now. That is nothing special, and Lambiel did like pretty much all the contenders and some of the non-contenders do.

Oh c'mon! Those triples are nothing compared to:

Look at the rideout and the height! If that person were still around and landing that thing consistently, neither the women nor the men nor Rena Inoue and John Baldwin have a prayer! ;)

Although I just checked, it wasnt at the 2006 Olympics, Plushy got 15.36 for that the 4 toe-3 toe-2 loop combo, and Lambiel 15.50 4 toe-
3 toe-2 loop combo. If it didnt happen there I am not sure if it did anywhere or not.

Congratulations to Johnny for two successful competitions!

How long could he go without a quad? Any one wants to bet that Johnny will go without a quad in GPF?:p It will be interesting to see how Lysacek and Weir perform there. The quad monster is still occupying in his mind which really took some of the shinning off the victory of his success. Personally, I am already tired of his SP, but still like to see his LP because of all his great jumps and I like the first half of his LP music. I loved his trio program with G&P, but don't like part of that music in his LP.

I loved Stephane's SP and LP, wild like a pirate - that's how I feel about his programs. Poor Stephane!!! I wish he will put himself together soon and do better later in this season. He should never let Weir take away the medals that supposed to be his. Did he say anything off ice about his knees? We don't have enough information about him as we have for the Americans.

I still love Jeffrey's style, but forgive me to say this: I think with his age, the best part of his career maybe over. Sad to see him not on the podium. Don't like his SP costume.

Those are all I care for CoR in my limited time and mind.

Johnny lost a lot of confidence in his jumping ability the last two seasons. I believe that Galina is slowly building his confidence by adding more difficulty to his free skate slowly. For example, she added the 3-2-2 combo for CoR. I think the next step for the GPF will be a 3-3-2 combo or a quad without combo. Better to go slow and build the confidence then have Johnny crash and start messing up his free skates as he did last season. Johnny had the quad in last year's nationals although he two footed the landing, he left it out at Worlds because he was unable to land any during the practices. I believe the quad will make a reappearance in January.
