I would love to see Olivia get the spot. She really had a couple of good skates the last seasons, but seems like she just barely missed out a couple of occasions. I think it´s "her time" to shine at Euros. Well the selection critera is clear, so I will have my fingers crossed for her. And don´t get me wrong, I like Iida too, but she is still very young so she probably will be at Euros at some point.
I could not agree more. Iida also has said she does not think about spots (mostly they ask about Olympics) she is just doing her best. I have noticed Iida friendly towards all other skaters (so is Olivia) so I think she also knows she has time and will support the skater who will go. Last season the Euros decision probably cost Finland another spot and now one of two competitions must be one of the late competitions after 1st November. One can be early too. But this decision is a message to skates: Nationals is also important. It is very close between Olivia and Iida, both have SB 177+ and have scored 168-178 all the season. Both are able to score about 185-190 when they skate clean and get all +GOES and level4 spins. Looks Olivia has missed a spin yesterday, that is very rare from her to make any mistakes in spins.
I'm guessing that after the Tallinn Trophy Olivia has gone shooting into the lead with her new PB 196.84 which is currently #22 season's best score in the world.
Yes, She is now in the lead by 15,4 points. Both have nationals from which the scores will be counted too. Iida is substitute to Golden spin. At the moment all Finnish skaters originally listed to GP are still on the list, but if somebody wds and Iida will go there then she will have one more chance to improve her scores. I think if (and probably) both will do fine in nationals, so title is very likely between them but only scores will count, not the placement, so Euros spot is probably already practically locked to Olivia. OC spots Finland will announce to Olympic committee 20th January, so there are still some competitions to improve the scores. A pity our girls last time could not keep two EC spots. Both Iida and Olivia, are good international level skaters and it would be realistic them to earn third spot together. But, there maybe surprises later like last year when Linnea took the WC spot in last minute skating a skate of life just at the weekend before the selections were made.
I wish Sweden had waited until the couple or the country that gives away their spot makes an announcement. If Yuka and Juho are out at least for me it is not nice to find it out this way.This is what I wrote in the entrees/quotas for the Olympics thread:
Sadly for the country who has given its qualification quotum back (presumably Finland, but it's not stated here), but happy for ID'ers Milla Ruud and Nicolaj from Sweden (auto translate to English will do). I hope their Citizenship issues are cleared up!

I agree. Probably that's why it's not actually said in the article (that was my own speculation as I don't know anyone else at this moment in time). I expect Yuka and Juho are not on Gsk8!
And Matias Lindfors is in the lead in men. I think dr V is out, Euro's spot is between Makar Suntsev and Matias. Makar has made his 3a work, so I think nationals is a thriller.
