I remember there was an account of a practice before 2010 GPF in China where somehow only Patrick and Kozuka were left on ice. All everybody could hear was the swishing of their blades on ice and they all stayed silent to listen to this beautiful sound on earth.

thanks for the report from finland :) you must be so happy with shoma doing well as well... how lucky!!! and yes... breathe during the LP lol it's such a perfect piece to forget time too :)
 
I had a 5 minute break in class and I pulled up the CBC feed just as Patrick was starting. So lucky! That was just beautiful. He really is so special.
 
I know I don't really post here often, but I had to come on to say how extraordinarily BEAUTIFUL Patrick was today! Wow! I cried right after the quad combo and then just kept tearing up in happiness. What a joy to watch! So proud of him. Magnificent!
Go Patrick! We all believe in you!!!!!!

Was at work today and unfortunately we are blocked from watching videos so the first thing I did when I went to lunch was pull it up on Radio-Canada Sports on Youtube on my phone. Pretty blessed to be Canada and have all these performances that we can watch on Youtube that aren't taken down. Lets just say my stomach was empty but my heart was full!

The French commentator said "son bête noir" to describe his 3A, this put a smile on my face haha. This commentator is pretty great even if I could only understand about 70%, I've never heard him before.

i haven't watched the French commentary yet... sa bête noire means his nemesis... it's a very funny image in french with bête meaning animal... like a black sheep or cat...

but we all know better that Patrick's triple axel now is just a thing of beauty !!

The commentator, assuming it's the same as yesterday's for ladies is Alain Goldberg... He is French (from France) originally and if I recall, he used to be a pair skater... he joined French CBC a long time ago, I used to watch him when Josée was competing... and of course, as we know Josée was perhaps the most beautiful talent in skating back then in all meanings of the word but the biggest headcase as well.... and well, her triple lutz was HUGE.... So, whenever she would set up for it.. (BTW i miss the long set ups skaters used to have on the 3lutz.... i loved to see them glide backwards) you would hear him sort of take his breath and then he would YELL TRI-PLE LUTZ.... and then if she fell he would yell NOOOOONNNNNNN Manqué!!! or whenever she would nail it he would be

OUI!!!!!!!!!

He has toned it down a bit... thank goodness... actually, he was so colourful that people would make parodies of him on telly ;) Alain Goldberg ;)

I know it means his nemesis haha, I understand that much, I just found it funny because Patrick was also in all black.

And thanks, I never heard his commentary before, when I watch Canadian commentary it's always Kurt or Tracy. He did yell TRI-PLE LUTZ for Patrick too so that sounds about right haha.

hehe ;) when it's a combo, he usually goes a bit faster.... QUA-dru-ple bou-cle pi-quée TRIIIIIII-ple bou-cle pi-quée.. and he sometimes add .. OH LA LA ...

I heard M. Goldberg once or twice years ago and never again! I found him extremely irritating with very dramatic hushed voice and then bursting out excitedly announcing a jump, through THE WHOLE PERFORMANCE! :bang: My nerves can't take this. :palmf:

oh no... i am sorry...

but he has toned it down a lot ;) he was told to do so i am sure :) he was so much more annoying in the past...

what they said though " Patrick was perfect. That's all he could do and he achieved it. Let's see if the judges reward quality"
