Patrick Chan

post 9999 : i'd like to simply thank all of you here who contribute to this fan fest. I have indeed read the 618 pages of this thread and cherish many moments as we have lived them together. Please keep posting, remain healthy and happy, and keep showing your dedicated support to our beloved Pchiddy!
You even ended up reading all the pages from right after the Sochi LP???  It was the rest of us pouring our hearts out and VB calming us down as usual, changing our sad tears to happy tears and making us smile through our tears. :) I'm SO GLAD Patrick didn't retire after Sochi!!!

OMG what an incredible EX skate that was!!!

i love love love this EX sunday morning!

patrick makes skating look EASY - he's just THAT good!

and i LOVE those expressions he had on his face while skating the EX!

he gets so in character i love it!!!
Here is the video. Sunday Morning has the PERFECT vibe for the end of the season! At WTT, Patrick skated it with freedom and joy, paying particular attention to being expressive. He told us through his performance, “It’s the end of the season and I’m just having fun skating.” Sunday Morning is not my favorite Ex from Patrick, but this time he really got the interpretation spot on. I loved watching it.

Patrick is magic.
From the storytelling of silly billy to his achievements on the ice.... to his honesty, his humility, his love for life.... I feel blessed that I have learned to appreciate him so long ago... he was still a kid when he blew me away winning his first nationals... i was a bit upset because I loved Jeff... but then, I discovered Patrick and never looked back. By far the best skater in history as far as I am concerned.

I hope he continues giving back to skating and that his skating academy project happens.... can you imagine if he were able to train mini patricks for us to enjoy his style for ever and after?

No matter what happens in the future, you will always and forever be for me, the ultimate skater....

hence my user name....

4everchan....

wishing you a wonderful 2017-18 season... may you achieve your goals, focus on the process, and skate for your own happiness

I LOVE YOU PATRICK!!!!!!

he is the personification of ART on ice!!!

his skating is calming and healing

he makes skating look easy

i feel reassured when i watch him skate

💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

Patrick is indeed art on ice. I love figure skating and have followed it for so long... have been a fan of so many skaters but never felt such attachment before Patrick. I know why I feel like this, because his skating relates the closest to what I do in life, so I feel privileged to share my deep appreciation to other people who also connect to Patrick in such a significant way.

those hearts so belong to Patrick's thread thanks for your kind message

Oh. Wow. I think. that probably I need to leave here a few lines from myself. In advance I want apologize for all my mistakes, cos I still have too many emotions, that I can think how to write correctly. I need to breathe out and gather my thoughts.

It was an exciting competition. And at the same time was insanely joyful. Patrick managed to break my heart and fix it - maybe more than one time. I'm very glad that he made change in his short program, glad, that he tries to keep pace with all the other skaters and keep his words. Yes, he couldn't do all that want, but for his attempt ... for his strength ... I seem to have come to love him even more than before.
What Patrick did in K&C... I don't even know how to describe it - definitely, Patrick in K&C - it was an a special kind of art))) Noone could compare with his madness and his fun. And with his divine, sunny smile. He was just extraordinary. It isn't surprising that almost every one of his shots was expanded on the Internet - he surprised and made laughs every time. Not everyone can do it. To be able to seem stupid and not to be embarrassed by this - is a special talent. This is another point for why I love him so much.

And the last ... and the most difficult. Of course, this is his free program. I'm writing and my hands are trembling, cos I understand that I saw her for the last time. And it's very sad, very painful, because I managed to love it with all my heart - it's so piercing, so strong, so alive, and so it suits Patrick: as if it's the reflection of his whole career that we can be heard in the flow of music and the movement of his skate.

I'm glad that he could do all three quads, but at the same time it's very insulting for his axel - if Patrick could do it - he can be the first.

But his smile after this program ... I don't know. This was something special. This photo is on my phone screensaver :3 And every time I look at it, my heart falls down. And I'm glad that this season he so often pleased us with such a happy sunny smile.

Thanks him for this season: and joy, and tears, and excitement, and happiness, and anger - everything was in excess. And this was an amazing end of the season. Thank you Patrick.
And once again I was finally convinced: there is something that never change: I believe in Patrick Chan.

thank you Ayara ! what a beautiful post ! Don't worry about mistakes/English whatever !!! Your words were received very well in my heart

We often say that music is the universal language, Patrick's skating also reaches universally. He has younger and older fans, from all over the world, some prefer his skating skills, some prefer his pure jumping style, some like his balanced package, many like his other voluptuous things, but in the end, he touches everyone... whoever they are and whatever they like. That is what an idol does. A superhero

Let's cheer up a bit!!! He is still skating one more year (at least) !!!! Go Patrick!!!!

Wow, what an amazingly heartfelt post, Ayara. I'm so happy to see that Patrick has touched so many hearts around the world like yours this season with his programs. Truly, he has grown so much in his ability to transport his audience into a world of beauty and artistry that only he can create.

I loved his smile after the WTT LP as well, which is why I made a GIF of it for my blog. That smile was a genuine smile of happiness. Did you see the shape of his eyes? I love it! He was happy with his effort and it showed!

Keep believing in Patrick - he needs it to keep his fairy dust alive!

Hugs back to you! Patrick's journey has only gotten more exciting since he's come back. I can't wait to see what happens next, but I am also grateful for him, his talent, and for all his fans here and worldwide. Thanks for reading and supporting my fan site (yes, I just made more updates)!
And here is another gorgeous photo of our beloved artist on ice:

Love to you all!

patrick is a master of musical interpretation. i love the way he is always able to become the character he's expressing in his routines. i love watching his skating because he is such an artist. i know i've said this a million times but i think the presentation, musical interpretation, and artistry of skating is a beautiful thing and patrick just does it so well. i love how his skating becomes part of the music and there's a reason why he is a respected veteran and champion of the sport! :luv17:
So many beautiful words from all of you!!!!!! :2thumbs: :ghug:

Javi posted this picture marking the end of the season. Patrick has one arm around Javi and one arm around Nathan. This picture makes me happy. :)

About Mao

"Memories of Mao

Three-time world champion Patrick Chan spoke to Ice Time exclusively during the World Team Trophy about the recent retirement of Mao Asada.

“I get chills just thinking about it,” stated Chan, who at 26 is the same age as Mao. “She is from my generation. We are some of the last skaters to come from a very important generation of skating. The transition from the Michelle Kwan era to now with the Medvedevas.

“We were the skaters who embraced the transition of the new judging system,” added Chan. “For me, I am so happy for Mao because it takes a lot of guts, strength and independence to make that choice.”

Chan acknowledged that Mao’s popularity in Japan must have made her decision difficult.

“In a country like this, where skating is (so popular), that’s a huge decision. We don’t realize in North America how big skating is here,” commented Chan. “I aspire to be as successful as she is, as iconic as she is. That is my goal — to be a Mao Asada in Canada. Because those type of athletes are very rare now.”

It is clear that what resonated most with Chan is the same thing that has with so many people around the world — Mao’s inner beauty.

“For her to be so humble with the amount of fame, success and stardom that she has had, she is the epitome of a good role model for the future,” said Chan. “I have spent skating tours of two or three weeks with her where I forget about how really famous she is and the notoriety she has in this country.

“I completely forget (about her fame) because of her sense of calm, and that life is life, and everyone is a normal human being no matter the type of success that they have had.”

Patrick is sooo nice young man :luv17:

Patrick's words about Mao deserved a separate acknowledgement from me. It takes one to know one. :) I think Patrick is also humble. I like how Patrick mentioned the transition from 6.0 to the early days of IJS/COP. It reminded me of just how much time has passed and the longevity of both Patrick and Mao. What a lovely tribute! I hope that when Patrick's time comes, he can retire as gracefully as Mao.

Thanks for all the stuff that has been brought to this thread lately, keeping it alive and well. I do hope we will get to see a full fancam of What a Night at some point during SOI. It looks like such a fun program!

I must also acknowledge all this greatness!!!  :thank:

Awwwww.......from Yan Han

There is the English version on Han's page.

My version: He is the one who makes me hold on to my understanding of figure skating. Figure skating is not just a technical sport. There are things that are not perceptible through the scores. Even though the way of the world is now different, figure skating is figure skating. My idol, let's go forth together.

eta: @chiddylove: Today's promotion is carriage, bonus blade work.

He picked pictures of Patrick's deep edges and beautiful body expressions. Gorgeous showcases of his and our idol.

I have so much respect for Han Yan after reading that. What a classy, classy guy showing such great sportsmanship. And a fine skater too!!!

baby hanee has been one of my favourites for a long time.... last year, at 4CC he did his "i love patrick chan" outing. he was truly exciting about taking pictures with his idol and hugging him and so on. Patrick played along with it...I thought it was super cute and then it hit me that it was way more than that: Han modeled his skating on Patrick's... If you look at how he glides so smoothly on the ice, it's clear he was inspired by PChiddy.... So the idol thing here is so cook because if the younger skaters start recognizing how great Patrick is, and train to aspire to such quality, we will be in for a treat for years to come. We all love Patrick for his unique skating skills. I'd love to be able to see 4-5 Patrick-like skaters in the top ten at worlds... it would be so beautiful to watch.

Han has admired Patrick and considered him his idol for years. I think it's courageous of him to hold on to his ideal of figure skating and thank Patrick for the inspiration in this age of quad mania and skating skills and performance being put aside as secondary or dispensable. Yes, Han has modeled after Patrick and became the first Chinese Man noted for his skating skills since his Junior years. I do enjoy and appreciate Han's skating very much because of his skills. He, too, skates and jumps big.

Skatingfan4ever, I always enjoy reading your posts as well! :agree:
Thanks! That was some SERIOUS multi-quoting from me today. :o: Was it too much??? That's what happens when you're almost completely away from GS for a week straight. ;) I'm glad Patrick's thread has been so active though.

Charlie White commented on the photo above, calling Patrick a "tambourine player" in the band. But then he agreed with this fan who called Patrick a "lute player". :laugh2:

Yeah, I like "lute player" better. ;)

Finally, we get a close up of what Patrick's "Oh What a Night" costume looks like!

Yep, it's "A Journey" colors darker and reversed. I love the colorful blue stripes going down his shirt... and the blue hat! :agree:

Okay, time to update the blog!
