Describing Patrick in Six Words

There's a thread in The Edge now where people are describing their favorite skaters in six words, to explain them to people who only watch figure skating during the Olympics. Several posts so far are about Patrick.

mrrice: Living My Dream, Thrilling My Fans

Violet Bliss: We're just dust in the wind.

Violet Bliss: Effortless speed, power, grace and musicality

Crossover: Just watch how his blade glides

Violet Bliss: Solo Ice Dancer with quad jumps

girl in red: melt the ice, eyes on price (maybe “prize” was meant; not sure though)

skatingfan4ever: Magical Blade Work, one last time (although I sure hope he decides to go to Worlds)

skatingfan4ever: The Master of the Edge Returns

da96103: Are there puddles on the ice? (might be a dig at Patrick, but I included it anyway)

Can others in this FF come up with more? ;) It's fun to see what people come up with.

Aw, thanks! I haven't found any official gala videos yet myself.

One of the things I really like about Patrick's new coach Ravi is that he will post videos of Patrick practicing. Here's the latest one!

I just love seeing the crowd that gathered at the mall to watch Patrick skate DITW!

Thanks vivley! Do I understand this is the video of Patrick practicing after he finished the Nationals? So he's now training in Edmonton?

I thought he was training in Vancouver??? But Ravi is one of his coaches now, so who knows. Maybe he was at Kaetlyn's rink for a bit after Nationals. I just remembered Kaetlyn does train in a mall. Maybe it would help Patrick be able to minimize distractions better in competition, being around such a crowd every day.

I looked at it again, and I think it must be quite recent. Perhaps he'll train at the rink in the mall until the Olympics? I have been to Edmonton and the Western Mall several times. It claims to be the biggest mall in North America.

Weird, I could have sworn that I replied here this morning!

Yes, Patrick was training at the Edmonton mall where the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club is located. I’m so glad those lucky shoppers got to watch him for free!

A fan had reported seeing Patrick at the airport kiosk next to her on Monday morning. I guessed that he was flying to Edmonton because the Olympics are only three weeks away.

Meanwhile, Keegan Messing was on the same flight as me that morning!

Two of the Greatest Canadian skaters ever with their coach

I'm envious of those who get to easily and freely watch Patrick skate live! I hope regularly practicing and performing in front of live audience benefits him as much as it does Kaetlyn.

I imagine that it should. My choir director is originally from Edmonton, so I was able to share with her that Patrick is training there now. :)

All, my latest blog post is up!

http://pcskatingfan.com/2018/01/patrick-chan-news-01-15-2018/

I will keep updating this one until the Olympics.

And did you all see that Patrick announced his sparkling wine will be available at LCBOs next month?

Nice article with lovely quotes from his fellow skaters and his coach. I love how Lori started the article! Then, she described what makes him special on the ice. :agree: But, she said he'll retire after the Olympics in February, so does that mean for sure he's not doing Worlds? I guess we won't know for sure until the entry list comes out.

Well what do you know, as soon as I finished blogging, Ravi went and posted this video of Patrick doing two gorgeous jumps in Hallelujah!

More updates to make when I get home!
Beautiful jumps, indeed! :hap10: I love watching Patrick skate when he's calm. Everything feels seamless when he's calm. And I could listen to his blades all day!

Yes, indeed! Thanks for posting this - I will add it to the fan site!

Yikes - is Patrick growing a moustache????

Yes he is and I think it looks good! He just posted this two hours ago:

Must be flying to Korea tomorrow. Good luck, Pchiddy! :agree:

I really hope he has a fabulous time, wows everyone with his fabulous skating, decides not to retire, comes to World Championships....

Best of luck, Patrick - we're really looking forward to seeing your wonderful artistry again very soon.

I can't decide about the new look. He certainly looks older to me with the scruff. His smile is still the same though (look how HUGE it is!). His eyes are sparkling and he looks radiant! Here's hoping he looks like that after his programs in Pyeongchang!

I'm American, I should be rooting for Nathan Chen, BUT.......I would LOVE to see Patrick with the OGM around his neck!

I'm also American, and I've been firmly rooting for Patrick since 2008!!! :agree: I don't know if he can get the OGM, but in my dream world, he certainly would! My ultimate hope for him is that he will skate well and get off the ice proud of his performances!

Hello, everyone!
So, I haven't been paying attention to Men's tbh up till recently... And I wasn't paying attention to Patrick Chan(yes, I've committed that sin). So you can imagine my shock when I realised what I was missing out.

Now every time I watch his performances I'm speechless or tearing up or transported to another dimension. (exaggerating much? Perhaps not)

And I wonder, does he get 10s for SS every time he skates? Because I don't see how it can get any better than that. :scratch2:
Just his edges make me cry already. Smooth like butter. He has such a flow... It's magical.

Ok, I'm done gushing over him.
I wish him all the luck in this Olympics. :cheer:
