Programs for 2013-2014 season

It is wonky, because for some reason Chukyo TV decided to cut out some parts of the program (steps into 3L and transitions into StSq, and a part of the StSq). They tried to cover the parts where the program was cut by adding a fade-in between the cut part of the music, and it ended up sounding weird.
The full version of the program will be aired on August 18th, IIRC. :)

ETA: Actually, it looks like the Osaka version was aired today:

That's surprising, I read that no cameras were rolling on that day.
Anyway, there's no annoying music skip during the step sequence. :) Love everything but the flying camel - I think a flying sit would suit this music better, but it seem the new rules made the flying sit rather unpopular. The combo spin and the layback are gorgeous here, though. :)

The music cut is a little strange in Mao's program. When she did this program before, the Nocturne was just played straight through. This one seems to add in a repetition of some of the music--I'm not sure why. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJ5nkNEw1UA&feature=player_detailpage&t=77 And she is still having trouble with her jumps. Mao is a lovely skater--probably the top one or two in artistry right now. But she needs those jumps. Her triple axel is far from consistent. And here, she missed the triple flip, too, which is one of her better jumps. It's too early to judge, of course. I hope she fixes these problems as the season goes on.

Mao just landed the 3A, 3f, and 3lo in the program, even through she is used to training this program in a full size rink, that makes a big difference, because the preparation she has for each jump is shorter, and with all those transitions before each jump and in each program, I find it amazing that she managed to actually land all three jumps under those conditions. even with the step out of the 3A, it was soo amazing to see.
as for the rest of the program, she just was breathtaking, and interpreted every note in the music. I didn't think that Mao nocturne could become better then the one from 2006, but I was proved wrong, I looove the new version

Thank you for sharing this new link!

I'm not overly concerned about her jumps here because it's still so early and aside from that, I think she was lovely. Like others here, I do prefer the overall design of this costume over the previous one... except for the puffiness of the bodice material, which seems to bunch up sometimes when she moves. That's just me being nit-picky though.

:)
That puffy part really looks weird at the end when she bows, but when she moves, I think it looks lovely. And it fits the mood of the program so well!
Overall, I liked the program from 2006-07 more, but the way she skates this SP is beautiful and it perfectly suits her.

Why are we talking about this AT ALL?

LOL a skater mentions once she likes chocolate ice cream and from that point on its all "she is so bad she needs to eat once a day and cut back on chocolate ice cream and Mishin needs to watch everything she eats!!!"

It means that a figure skater has to be fit, not to have fat on his/her belly as Rachel Flatt and Tuk. The problem is obviously the diet, because it is clear that they are exercising enough. :slink: It has nothing to do with being muscular, udmurt, etc. Why do you think that many skaters who came back after a retirement period are losing weight? Because even if they are very fit for normal people they clearly weight more that it is supposed to. IMO Liza's skating changed and IMO it is because of the weight. If weight isn't affecting her skating and her health at all, well, she can have 100000 pounds, I don't care because it is not a beauty contest. :scowl:

You can tell that Tukt has belly fat? I'm sorry, but I don't see it. She looks perfectly fit to me; she's short and has very muscular legs, which make her look undeniably broader. And that's fine. Not every skater can be the reedy, long-legged type. Just look at Harding versus Baiul, or Ito versus Kerrigan. Or, to use a gymnastics example, Nastia Liukin versus Shawn Johnson.

There's a BIG difference between losing weight and getting into shape. You can eat less to lose weight, but getting in shape requires a lot more intensive resistance training (and more carb and protein-based calories in the diet). Returning elite skaters have to get back in shape, and they do so by regaining muscle mass, which weighs more than fat anyway. The point here is that until Tukt decides to publicize her weight, we can't simply "assume" that she needs to lose ten or twenty pounds in order to be a better skater.

If that's Mirai's new SP in the beginning.

The music is Dave Grusin - On Golden Pond <3

I agree. This is exactly the type of program that highlights her strengths. Some of her programs, particularly under TT, really missed the mark.

I wonder if the Lewis/Bye info was entered on Icenetwork in error -- since that second selection is Jeremy Ten's SP music, and the article about Lewis/Bye said they were using "Hava Nagilah" in addition to the Schindler's List selection.

Oh...Libertango...hmm...

*trots off to Youtube to have a listen*

Hmm! Could be a very good step for him. Certainly different to his other programs.

It would be odd if it were mixed up with Jeremy Ten's info, since his bio update is not on IN. But yes, what we previously had for Lewis & Bye included Hava Nagilah

Max Aaron's music info has also been updated.

SP Music: "Historia de un Amor" by Perez Prado
FS Music: Music from Carmen performed by Rodion Shchedrin and the Boston Pops Orchestra

A quick Youtube search yielded me this link for the SP music.

I don't know how I feel about his SP music choice, as following in the footsteps of Dai may be a tall challenge. Although, I believe that Pasquale will be able to bring out the best in him. :)
