European Championships Senior Ladies SP: Results; Protocols
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJFdNh37suk
Stefania finished 12th out of 38 in the SP, with a score of 56.16.
Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:
And here is what I wrote about the programme:
Things hadn't been going well for the girls that skated before the resurfacing. After the last skater in Group 2, my friend from Norway, @norwegianfairytale, had put up a comment, and I replied with this:
Definitely - my baby girl is in it!
I'll pay for all the sage in Yorkshire!
CaroLiza_fan
To which American member @moonvine replied:
Anyway, at the end of the Warm-Up, @norwegianfairytale put up this:
This was echoed by my good friend in Sicily, @elektra blue (she considers herself as Auntie to my kids, and I consider myself as Uncle to her kids):
She then replied to a comment from another member who was in the arena:
And that member replied with this:
To which @elektra blue later replied with:
During the programme, @norwegianfairytale came back with this observation about one of the elements:
And then added when the programme finished:
To which I replied:
My baby girl is helpful like that.
Thank goodness! It needed it!
CaroLiza_fan
@Princessroja then brought up the colour of the dress again:
To which I replied:
I think it's a simple case that she is wearing black because it is a colour that suits her.
CaroLiza_fan
To which @Princessroja replied later on:
While @norwegianfairytale had made an observation about one element, Hungarian member @sissy7 made an observation about another:
Finnish member @TT_Fin was more reserved in her opinions:
But my fellow British member @FlossieH liked it:
I'm not sure if @EdgeCall was making a cryptic point about the dress colour or had genuinely got their Tchaikovsky pieces mixed up:
Czech member @flanker was to the point:
Our bastion of positivity, @Jeanie19, was on form:
@sissy7 came back to add what the Hungarian commentators were saying:
I think a lot of people are still annoyed about that.
@Vemvane did an in-depth post, and was very impressed:
And @soccerjc77 was another that didn't approve of a black dress with this music:
At the end of the group, @norwegianfairytale posted this:
To which I replied:
You know me too well! I was just writing a post about it.
STEFANIA IS THE FIRST TO QUALIFY FOR THE FREE!!!

Myself and Sy the sloth sitting beside me are absolutely delighted!!!
CaroLiza_fan
Yes, I have named my sloth cuddly toy after Stefania!
After watching the M4 Sport coverage during Group 3 to get a taste of what the Hungarian commentators thought, @sissy7 switched back to Eurosport (where Simon Reed and Louise Walden were commentating), which shows interviews during the resurfacings. And gave us a summary of what Stefania said:
To which I replied:
See what I mean! She's so hard on herself!
I don't think she realises she is doing as well as she is.
CaroLiza_fan
To which @sissy7 replied:
Hope she gains more confidence, she has every reason for it
Stefania is currently 0.01 points behind 11th position, Anastasiia GUBANOVA (GEO), and 0.02 points ahead of 13th position, Lorine SCHILD (FRA). All three of them are part of a group where 32 skaters are covered by 16.52 points, stretching from Kimmy REPOND (CHE) in 6th position, 3.12 points ahead of Stefania, down to Nikola FOMCHENKOVA (LAT) in 37th position, 13.40 points behind Stefania.
That was using my usual guide of using 2.00 point gaps to define groups. If I cut it down to 1.50 point gaps, then all three of them are part of a group where 9 skaters are covered by 3.56 points, stretching from Kimmy REPOND (CHE) in 6th position, 3.12 points ahead of Stefania, down to Lea SERNA (FRA) in 14th position, 0.44 points behind Stefania.
Whatever way you look at it, this is an extremely close competition. When nearly the whole field are in one group, anything can happen. So, Stefania needs to have a good Free Skate no matter what.
So, let's hope she does!
WELL DONE STEFANIA!!!
The Senior Ladies FS is due to start at 18:00:00 GMT (20:00:00 EET / 21:00:00 MSK / 22:00:00 GST). So 10 hours from now.
Stefania will be the 13th skater to start. So, first skater to go in Group 3 (and first skater to go after the resurfacing).
The Group 3 Warm-Up is due to start at 20:02:30 GMT Friday (22:02:30 EET Friday / 23:02:30 MSK Friday / 00:02:30 GST Saturday). So 12h 2m from now.
Stefania is due to start at 20:10:15 GMT Friday (22:10:15 EET Friday / 23:10:15 MSK Friday / 00:10:15 GST Saturday). So 12h 10m from now.
But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

My baby girl first out of the doors!!!
She runs on, and is going so fast that the spotlights don't catch her!
As she is the first to skate, Stefania is first to be featured. And we see her taking off her jacket, and handing it to Sergei, who has managed to get to Sheffield this time after missing the Robin Cousins Cup due to Visa issues.
I had kinda been hoping to see her Mum with her again. She's really nice.
Right. We saw a shot of the coaches, and Sergai was talking very animatedly towards the ice. But we couldn't see Stefania with him! I assume she was somewhere nearby...

And here is what I wrote about the programme:
Hang on, has she gone back to "The Nutcracker"?
She has! Not that I'm complaining. I love myself a bit of Tchaikovsky!
Beautiful combination to start with.
Triple Lutz beautiful.
And so were the two sets of spins that followed.
Just about held the Double Axel.
I still don't like that spin into hand down move.
And a beautiful Layback Spin to finish with.
Chris says she will be pleased. Having followed her for so long, she tends to be very hard on herself.
Lovely double wave and finger heart.
Sending one back to her!
She is happy. Sergei doesn't seem to be as happy, though.
She...

Anyway, at the end of the Warm-Up, @norwegianfairytale put up this:
Best of luck to Stefania

This was echoed by my good friend in Sicily, @elektra blue (she considers herself as Auntie to my kids, and I consider myself as Uncle to her kids):
my niece! go Stefania!
She then replied to a comment from another member who was in the arena:
she's the black sugarplum fairyIs the announcer drunk
Pas de Deux in black, that's new
And that member replied with this:
Doesn't that mean that the sugarplum has gone badshe's the black sugarplum fairy
To which @elektra blue later replied with:
maybe it's just one of those mordern gourmet stuff that make you pay something twice its actual worthDoesn't that mean that the sugarplum has gone bad
During the programme, @norwegianfairytale came back with this observation about one of the elements:
And we have our first landed triple triple

And then added when the programme finished:
And Stefania cleansed the ice for us

To which I replied:

@Princessroja then brought up the colour of the dress again:
Can I just say that as a ballet dancer, I find the choice to wear a black dress to the Sugar Plum pas music utterly baffling. WHY on earth would you do that?
To which I replied:

I think it's a simple case that she is wearing black because it is a colour that suits her.
CaroLiza_fan
To which @Princessroja replied later on:
That's understandable, but there's surely got to be a color that suits her that also suits the music. Don't worry, CaroLiza_fan, I know you adore her, and I enjoyed her skate. But it's a very puzzling and jarring costume choice and one I'm side-eyeing her team for.I think it's a simple case that she is wearing black because it is a colour that suits her.
CaroLiza_fan
While @norwegianfairytale had made an observation about one element, Hungarian member @sissy7 made an observation about another:
Finnish member @TT_Fin was more reserved in her opinions:
The choreo was a bit empty - maybe some other music would have been better choice - but her TES will be enought and she should make it to the free.
Edit: I said before our commentators did but they say the same thing.
Edit: I said before our commentators did but they say the same thing.
But my fellow British member @FlossieH liked it:
Nice from Yakovleva. That should qualify.
I'm not sure if @EdgeCall was making a cryptic point about the dress colour or had genuinely got their Tchaikovsky pieces mixed up:
Awww, what a beautiful black swan. Not entirely clean but still very impressive.

Czech member @flanker was to the point:
Our bastion of positivity, @Jeanie19, was on form:
Stefania. Pretty dress and a nice program. Good skate.

@sissy7 came back to add what the Hungarian commentators were saying:
My commentator is rehashing Chinese Nebelhorn, and is more on Stefania's side
I think a lot of people are still annoyed about that.
@Vemvane did an in-depth post, and was very impressed:
A very good skate by Stefania! Huge 3Lz. Flying camel spin was particularly good. I feel the details and complexity of the choreography aren't giving her a moment to let the programme breathe, nor to finish some of her movements as completely as she could - she must have a lot of stamina and strength to get through it all. First level 4 step sequence, I think! Shoots into the lead.
And @soccerjc77 was another that didn't approve of a black dress with this music:
I don't like a black dress for the nutcraker it doesn't suit this music.
A light or color dress is a better match for this music.
