Stefania finished 12th out of 38 in the SP, with a score of 56.16.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

And here is what I wrote about the programme:

Things hadn't been going well for the girls that skated before the resurfacing. After the last skater in Group 2, my friend from Norway, @norwegianfairytale, had put up a comment, and I replied with this:

To which American member @moonvine replied:

Anyway, at the end of the Warm-Up, @norwegianfairytale put up this:

This was echoed by my good friend in Sicily, @elektra blue (she considers herself as Auntie to my kids, and I consider myself as Uncle to her kids):

She then replied to a comment from another member who was in the arena:

And that member replied with this:

To which @elektra blue later replied with:

During the programme, @norwegianfairytale came back with this observation about one of the elements:

And then added when the programme finished:

To which I replied:

@Princessroja then brought up the colour of the dress again:

To which I replied:

To which @Princessroja replied later on:

While @norwegianfairytale had made an observation about one element, Hungarian member @sissy7 made an observation about another:

Finnish member @TT_Fin was more reserved in her opinions:

But my fellow British member @FlossieH liked it:

I'm not sure if @EdgeCall was making a cryptic point about the dress colour or had genuinely got their Tchaikovsky pieces mixed up:

Czech member @flanker was to the point:

Our bastion of positivity, @Jeanie19, was on form:

@sissy7 came back to add what the Hungarian commentators were saying:

I think a lot of people are still annoyed about that.

@Vemvane did an in-depth post, and was very impressed:

And @soccerjc77 was another that didn't approve of a black dress with this music:

At the end of the group, @norwegianfairytale posted this:

To which I replied:

Yes, I have named my sloth cuddly toy after Stefania! 🦥

After watching the M4 Sport coverage during Group 3 to get a taste of what the Hungarian commentators thought, @sissy7 switched back to Eurosport (where Simon Reed and Louise Walden were commentating), which shows interviews during the resurfacings. And gave us a summary of what Stefania said:

To which I replied:

To which @sissy7 replied:

Stefania is currently 0.01 points behind 11th position, Anastasiia GUBANOVA (GEO), and 0.02 points ahead of 13th position, Lorine SCHILD (FRA). All three of them are part of a group where 32 skaters are covered by 16.52 points, stretching from Kimmy REPOND (CHE) in 6th position, 3.12 points ahead of Stefania, down to Nikola FOMCHENKOVA (LAT) in 37th position, 13.40 points behind Stefania.

That was using my usual guide of using 2.00 point gaps to define groups. If I cut it down to 1.50 point gaps, then all three of them are part of a group where 9 skaters are covered by 3.56 points, stretching from Kimmy REPOND (CHE) in 6th position, 3.12 points ahead of Stefania, down to Lea SERNA (FRA) in 14th position, 0.44 points behind Stefania.

Whatever way you look at it, this is an extremely close competition. When nearly the whole field are in one group, anything can happen. So, Stefania needs to have a good Free Skate no matter what.

So, let's hope she does!

:cheer: WELL DONE STEFANIA!!! :cheer:

The Senior Ladies FS is due to start at 18:00:00 GMT (20:00:00 EET / 21:00:00 MSK / 22:00:00 GST). So 10 hours from now.

Stefania will be the 13th skater to start. So, first skater to go in Group 3 (and first skater to go after the resurfacing).

The Group 3 Warm-Up is due to start at 20:02:30 GMT Friday (22:02:30 EET Friday / 23:02:30 MSK Friday / 00:02:30 GST Saturday). So 12h 2m from now.

Stefania is due to start at 20:10:15 GMT Friday (22:10:15 EET Friday / 23:10:15 MSK Friday / 00:10:15 GST Saturday). So 12h 10m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Stefania finished 11th out of 24 in the FS, with a score of 117.01. This meant that she dropped to 12th position overall, with a score of 173.17.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

And here is what I wrote about the programme:

At the end of Group 2, @Sabsi had posted this in reference to the amount of issues there had been for the skaters so far:

To which I replied:

To which @Sabsi replied:

And I replied:

When it was Stefania's turn to skate, Swedish member @snowflake posted:

Quickly followed by their Scandinavian neighbour, @norwegianfairytale:

This was one of three posts that I stupidly replied to in one go later on. So to simplify things, rather than embed the post, here is a quote of the relevant part:

Oh, that would be my dream, for her and Marilena to both have slots next season.

CaroLiza_fan

Shortly into the programme, @Sabsi exclaimed:

And then @Seven Sisters commented:

To which Italian member @bartlebooth replied after she finished:

And I replied to both posts with this:

I’ve a feeling that @CaroLiza_fan is on the edge of their seat, from the opening pose onwards

I would have been, except that I wouldn't have been able to reach the keyboard to type my post!

And Stefania repays his support with a very good skate!

She really did!

Just a pity she didn't get a couple of points more and take the lead. But, hey.

I'm still so proud of her.

CaroLiza_fan

Immediately after she finished, @EdgeCall commented:

And a member who was in the audience asked:

To which @Sabsi replied:

To which @EdgeCall replied:

Anyway, here are @Sabsi's own views:

To which @snowflake replied:

@Skating91 was again impressed with her:

@norwegianfairytale was happy:

My fellow British member, @FlossieH, was in two minds:

While our bastion of positivity, @Jeanie19, was positive:

Polish member @Karoltyna was happy, and hopeful that this was a good sign going forwards in the competition:

And her fellow Pole @Ares hit the nail on the head on so many things, even if they did like the bit of the programme that I don't:

When the scores came through, @norwegianfairytale commented about the standings (albeit going off on a tangent away from Stefania):

@bartlebooth pointed out something which I didn't understand:

And @Skating91 pointed out something that unfortuntely was very true:

To which Russian member @AlexBreeze replied:

But when you look at the Protocols, all three are very similar.

@lileychristie in Australia was the only one other than me to comment about the dress:

After seeing a shot of it close up, I am convinced that it is actually the same dress, but that it has been dyed (either intentionally or by accident) since we last saw it.

A few hours later when everything was over, niks did a summary about the competition, and talked about Stefania at the end. I will just quote the relevant paragraph:

Oh well, to try and finish this rather long rant in a more uplifting way, let's try and find some positives here.... Niina did skate with character.... and Nina, even with a less than memorable skate, does have some nice movements and potential.... and Nastya did fight back and you could see how much more mature her skating looks compared to many others... and I liked the skater from Cyprus, Stefania (looked up her name because I remember her skating from the Olympic qualifier), not sure what place she ended-up on here but alas, she is alive on the ice! Kudos to her, she should have gotten a medal just for that 😁

Looking at the protocols, there was only one element with issues, although they don't tell us what they were. The eighth element, the Triple Toe, had the only GOE hit of the programme, at -1.44. The Judges gave it four -4's; and five -3's.

The final element, the Flying Change Foot Combination Spin, had neutral GOE. The Judges gave it three -1's; three 0's; and three +1's.

For the rest of the elements, the GOE ranged from +0.22 for the penultimate element, the Step Sequence, to +1.10 for the sescond element, the Triple Lutz-Double Toe. Apart from a -1 for the third element, the Triple Lutz on it's own, all the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE ranged from 0 to +2.

Stefania finished the Free Skate 0.06 points behind 10th position, Ekaterina KURAKOVA (POL), and 4.36 points ahead of 12th position, Olga MIKUTINA (AUT). Stefania is the bottom skater in a group of 8 skaters covered by 6.11 points, stretching up to Lara Naki GUTMANN (ITA) in 4th position.

Overall, Stefania finished 1.20 points behind 11th position, Julia SAUTER (ROU), and 6.62 points ahead of 13th position, Mikutina. Stefania is the bottom skater in a group of 6 skaters covered by 4.72 points, stretching up to Kimmy REPOND (CHE) in 7th position.

It is such a pity about the Triple Toe, because if it had gone better she would probably have got 9th position in both the FS and overall. Nevertheless, to finish in the Top 12 is a great result for her first Senior level Major.

Stefania finished 33rd out of 33 in the SP, with a score of 38.53.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread before the Warm-Up:

Here is what I wrote during the Warm-Up:

Here is what I wrote when she was being introduced:

And here is what I wrote about the programme:

The first post by other members was a show of support from German member Sabsi, who simply said:

And that was quickly followed by this from my good friend in Sicily elektra blue:

To which ruffledgrouse replied:

Sabsi then came back less cheery when things started to go wrong for Stefania:

To which elektra blue replied when the stream started to go wrong:

There were more complaints about the stream, but there is no need to quote them here.

My fellow British member FlossieH was referring to the situation in the Middle East in this comment:

Italian member bartlebooth summed everything in 7 words:

lileychristie in Australia made clear she likes Stefania's programmes:

Our bastion of positivity, Jeanie19, tried to be positive:

Sabsi was to the point when the scores came up:

And so was Polish member Ares:

Abouit 45 minutes after she skated, Czech member flanker commented:

Stefania is currently 3.98 points behind 32nd position, Mia RISA GOMEZ (NOR), and 6.94 points ahead of 31st position, Meda VARIAKOJYTĖ (LTU).

Unfortunately, there is a cut-off at the European Championships. Only the Top 24 go through to the Free Skate. And Stefania is 12.06 points behind the last skater to qualify, Barbora VRÁNKOVÁ (CZE).

I'm heartbroken. Everybody has days when nothing seems to go right. And unfortunately for Stefania, it happened for her at her debut Senior Worlds.

Of course, it will take time for Stefania to get over finishing in last position at the final Major of the season. However, I hope she can take heart from how well the rest of her debut Senior season went. Because, let's not beat about the bush, it was a fantastic season. For those of us that were paying attention, she fired the warning shots at the Robin Cousins Cup. And then she was the absolute revelation of the Olympic Qualifying Event. And since then, she has continued to impress.

This girl has shown us all season just how promising she is. And along the way, she has gained so many new fans in addition to those that she already had.

I hope this result will not set Stefania back. Because what happened in Prague is not a reflection of her talent. It was just one of those things.

I don't know if she has any plans to do any more competitions this season, but I personally hope she does. If only so that she does not go into the off-season on a downer. Hey, it worked for Vasilisa last year when, after a mid-season slump, she won the México Cup right at the very end of the season!

Whether this is the end of her season or not, I hope that Stefania comes back next season with a bang.

I'm looking forward to seeing her in action again! (Hey, I always do! ;) )
