1) Lia Cho winning Junior Women!!
Also, after landing all her triple jumps in practice, the day before her SP, I think Scott then lets her go for the 3A. Seeing her go for all these 3A attempts. Her 3A is so powerful (a generous caller would give it a q, a strict caller <). But, she is so close! Definitely capable of scoring 6-7 points for this element, with how she was jumping them, at this stage. Who knows how well she will land this jump in an actual program.
2) Roman landing his final jumping pass (2A eu 3S) to maximize his TES points and then watching him emotionally connect to the rest of the free skate knowing he has done it again
3) David Howes spectacular SP. I’m going to watch it again and again
4) Breken Brezden SP and FP - only one mistake with a popped triple in the free skate. Outstanding performance for her
5) Maddie Schizas SP My actual favourite performance of the competition, as it was unexpected to me. Love lion king for her
6) Grace Johnson landing a solo 3T. She landed all six triples and all three double axels throughout her two programs. I clapped knowing she went for it.

Honourable mentions:
David Bondar winning Juniors. He seems so determined. Not my favourite. But, I love competitive people
David Howes holding on to the bronze medal and seeing him on the podium
Lia/Trentt SP and FP so much better. I believe in them again
Paul/Piper bringing back their summer outfits for the SP
Anthony Paradis SP and FP and his unique personality. All he has to do is add a 3A and he can be a Jason Brown part 2: meaning he can be top ten at Worlds because of his amazing artistry. He is that good!!
SMD her reaction after her free skate. Made me emotional for her
Katherine’s shyness like she can’t believe this is actually happening for her, after being stuck domestically for so long

The crowds - loved seeing all the spectators. They were so respectful. The posts on this forum. I love this skating community and being a part of it.

This was my favourite Canadian Nationals ever!! 🤗 ⛸️

1. Roman FS
2. Maddie SP/FS
3. Sara Maude FS
4. LaLa - SD & FD
5. Lia & Trennt - FP

Really hard to pick just 5. It was wonderful to see both Roman and Maddie have a great competition.

Thanks to Skate Canada for picking a smaller venue. It's so much nicer to see a full small venue rather than a less than 1/2 full larger venue. The audience were fantastic - they were so supportive of everyone, but it was especially great to see their support for people who were having an off day!

1. The audience. Merci Montréal et les autres amateurs de patinage!
2. Maddie's SP, LP
3. Piper & Paul, & the rest of the Dance podium was exquisite
4. Lia and Trennt, FINALLY performing to expectations, and more to come
5. The pure JOY & PRIDE of Katherine Midland Spence. Much improvement while being also a Chemistry major @ U. of Ottawa

Anthony SP, Anthony FS, Anthony in the KnC

Did I mention Anthony?

Also a new find Brian Chiem, David Li FS and Roman calm and collected.

TBF, I only watched men and some of dance, and dance is good, but I'm not as invested. ;)

Maddie FP
Roman FP
Anthony Paradis - but can't decide whether to pick his SP or FP
Lia Cho - FP
Pereira/Michaud FP

Other particularly notable performances - Julianne Lussier SP (I did not expect that I would ever see such a good skate from her), Katherine Medland-Spence SP and FP, Sara-Maude Dupis FP, Fee-Ann SP, Kemp and Elizarov SP, David Howes SP, David Bondar FP (he was a charmingly serious pirate and there was actually something endearing about it!) and Kent and Laliberte-Laurent SP (simply because it is good to have them back).

Well, I watched Ice Dance, Pairs and men, a bit of the women and junior men, and there was a lot to be joyful about. The top 5 below should not take anything away from other performances in these championships.

In random order:
Anthony Paradis, both Short Programme and Free skate.
The battle for the bronze in Ice Dance
Lia and Trennt in the FS.
Marjorie and Zachary in the FD
Sarah Maudes joy in the K&C

Honorary mentions: the audience, Roman holding his own, and the great combination of Ted commenting with a specialist of the discipline. Loved Piper and Pauls outings too, but should be without saying.

1. Kaiya Ruiter FS
2. Anthony Paradis FS
3. Madeline Schizas SP
4. Alicia Fabbri / Paul Ayer FD
5. Kelly Ann Laurin / Loucas Éthier FS
