maybe someone could use the same part of the song in many different styles and different instruments. That would totally work right?

I'm not sure if you're a sadist or a masochist, but you're definitely something for looking all these up!

;)

Most of them sound like parody to me, and ironically sound better than the original version. Judges might like.

The bluegrass banjo version sounds mighty interesting

The point is to get him to grow.

Now they can get his out of the way early in the quad so he can do more him programs for the Olympic year without people saying he never does anything different. Get the different out of the way, learn what you can from it, go into the Olympic year with a beautiful resume and a very you set of programs -seems like a decent method to me.

I see what you mean and it makes sense. As I said it is still early in the season. Kori seems to have a good plan for the quad leading to the Olympics and it has obviously worked out so far. Maybe I just need to give it more time.

Short Program : "Happy" by Pharell Williams
Long Program : "Winston Churchill's boy & Nemesis" by Benjamin Clementine

The combination of Florent and this song means great things.

And the Benjamin Clementine program has the potential to be both awesome and a trainwreck. As much as I hate the word "artistic" Florent is a posterboy of "artistic".

Was watching a rerun of the men's short at Worlds this year and was struck by how utterly dreary Florent's SP music was. Glad to hear he's skating to something a little more upbeat and lively this year.

the OST as a whole is pretty great overall
I wish ppl used other tracks like Ellie Goulding for example

I agree - I'm waiting for someone to tackle "I know you" by Skylar Grey or do a classic Frank Sinatra "Witchcraft" :)

Skaters using Queen: please stick to the Freddie Mercury vocals or at least some non-offensive muzak.

From your mouth to every single skater's ears. The only non-original version of Queen I can tolerate is Nocturne/Bohemian Rhapsody.

Mann what will I give the day for Gracie to pick something a bit outside the box. Not impressed by the music choices by the ladies announced so far, except may be Zijun for the Artist and Mirai's Demon (quite like this cover). It all comes down to the choreography program at the end. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised - even by Nichols. Never say never! Can't wait for Julia and Anna to announce theirs. Something a bit different I hope. Not a dead European 'prestigious' classic composer I hope. They are spirited young people, do something creative and original please.

I wonder what Patrick and Denis will announce this year. It will hard to topple Patrick's Olympic season programs, or Silk Road from last year.

Do we know what version of Mack the Knife? There are sooooooo many out there.

Thanks....I'd much prefer Ella or Loius or Bobby but maybe performing it to a more modern version with better sound quality is better for sound purposes. Plus isn't Buble Canadian ;)

Canadian Crooner at Skate Canada, it is likely to go down a storm if Patrick can bring the pizzazz at home and worth a few digits of PCS bonuses. Hanyu better watch out!!

I have mixed feeling about Hanyu's Seimei after hearing it and just watched the gala version.. it is one of those ideas that looks good on paper, but after hearing it and seeing it I thought "darnn... why does it sound like a OLD Tsui Hark Hong Kong Wuxia movie of the late 80s/90s". Some rip off sounding stuff going on there...not a great piece of music or program I dare say. Hanyu better bring some supernatural psychedelic power to do it justice. At the moment the program looks rather generic, looks like the choreographer/skater have problem relating/communicating with the music/subject. Anyone know who choreographed it? Hope the short program is better.

Patrick's LP Chopin is on a different level in terms of music sophistication and challenge to choreograph for, let alone interpret on ice. Looks like a lot of work are cut out Patrick and Wilson. It could be a really great mature program for Patrick's return.

[Edit: nvm. i just checked Hanyu's wiki, it is choreographed by Shae-Lynn Bourne. Hmm... maybe it will improve during the season. I don't know.. it need something, otherwise just look like POTO returns from the dead and get peeved up doing the same generic skating choreography. Although Hanyu can move fantastically well on ice, hit all the notes/pose as required and the technical elements are impressive. This program need seasoning, and a bit more shape and tonal variance to make sense and make it memorable. Positives. BEST COSTUME FOR A VERY LONG TIME!!! Johnny/Hanyu Mum better leave this one alone.]

Why doesn't Patrick skate to some psycho stalker music? He already has the crazy eyes for easy interpretation. :p
